Non Hormonal IUD

Ive been diong some research about this non hormonal IUD and got some info from the doc. She said that no one really knows why it works to prevent pregnancies. They only have theories. They are supposed to be 99.4% effective, she did say, however, that if you do become pregnant while using it, your miscariage rate is 50%, then after they take it out, the % rate drops to normal. Thats still enough to scare me out of using it. Has anyone used this type, gotten pregnant or know some more info about it?

Your miscarriage rate is something like 30% anyway, counting chemical pregnancies and pregnancies that report as nothing more than a late period. IUD figures to me as one of the smarter forms of BC for someone who is in a monogamous relationship where condoms are not needed for STD control. Good luck!

I hope that I can be of some help with this. I just got my second iud removed, because we're going to be ttc. I have had 2 placed. The first one I had for I'm thinking 7 months. We wanted to ttc, so we did and I miscarried. I decided I wasn't ready to try again, so I had my second iud placed. I had that one for about a year and a half. I have to say, we had absolutely no problems with the iud. It worked wonderfully for us, and we had 0 problems with it. So from my experience, I would definitely recommend it. I didn't have any problems with miscarriages or anything. I think the risk of even getting pregnant on it is extremely low. Let me know if you'd like to talk more about it!
