been on BC for not quite a year, this past pack i was very careless about taking pills; missed a lot quite often. and of course this happened to be our 'busiest month' lol period is just a day late but i just 'feel different' like tummy flutters, im constantly starving, constantly peeing! took test a day or so BEFORE period was due, negative of course no surprise there. just anxious i guess. i wouldnt mind being PG but hubby's not all for it. but i'll deal with that later if needed. also, read in several places that the dollar store tests are actually more sensitive than fancy expensive ones? just curious if anyone had an experience with that... also, if i test again during the next few days and still get a negative, should i go ahead and start my new pack on saturday or not? had this happen once before and all i got from the doctor was UTI, but this time..its just 'different' y'know? anyway any advice is helpful. starting to get a little anxious

On my last pregnancy, I tested with both the EPT brand and dollar tree brand. The EPTs were definitely positive, but the dollar tree was a very, very light line. (This was 11 DPO, I believe). I have heard that the dollar tree ones work just fine but are a little weaker in detecting. Could just be the one I used though... I just bought a couple more today since I want to test right away, but don't want to waste the expensive ones. Let us know what occurs. :) Oh, and definitely don't start taking BC again because you don't know if you're pregnant. Taking BC while you're pregnant could easily kill your unborn child. Take care!

ok, taking bc while preggo wont kill the baby, i wouldn't take them either, but don't hand out false information. if taking bc could terminate a pregnancy, there would not be much of a market for abortion clinics. there is no real risk to fetus in taking bc pills while pg. although, again, it is better not to for you own risk. as for glidermom i hope what ever you want comes true, good luck...;)

There's no reason to be mean. I apologize if I was wrong. I thought that was the truth, I didn't outright lie because I disagree with it. Anyhow, it is a powerful drug which certainly can't be very good for a growing fetus. I suppose you are right about the abortion clinics. Sorry again.

i am sorry if i came off as mean. i just didn't want that person worried if she had found out she was pg, and had taken some pills. BC is estrogen and synthetic progesterone...that can prevent preg. but not terminate one. the only real doc_mented occurrence is ectopic pregnancy, which is very bad and life threatning, but rare as well. sorry again. kate

Actually, I spoke with my husband and he said it certainly is true that BC can kill an unborn child. He's spent a good deal of time researching such things and would know. Just to let you know. :)

actually it can't kill an unborn child.

I agree, bc cannot kill a fetus, but you shouldn't be taking it if you are pregnant. Not many men would know about the affect of bc on a women's unborn child, for that matter not many men know much about the birth control pill period, unless of course they are a Dr. a research / lab technician or some other such specialized professional.

I'm not going to say any more after this post, but bc works by weakening the endometrium and also using those hormones mentioned before. Just in case the body still does allow the sperm and egg to unite (creating life) which sometimes does happen since bc isn't flawless, the endometrium will be too hostile to support the child. Therefore, bc is an abortificant. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, but it's a fact. And why would any ordinary woman know more about it than an ordinary man? My husband does a great deal of debating on abortion issues. Doctors will often hold back this information from women (especially the Pro-Choice ones). Our culture is a culture of death. New life is not welcomed, but frequently terminated. Anyhow, I won't say anymore. Take care, didn't mean to turn this into a debate, just wanted to present some info. :)

sorry to start a debate!! wasnt my intention lol! i appreciate you guys and your advice. i started today so i guess its just not meant to be right now...maybe down the road hubby will be a little more willing :)
