Lets just say that the sperm do meet the egg....does that mean the the egg will get fertalized??? And if that happens what causes you to not be pregnant...does it all have to do with implantation???

j - the egg is fertilized by the sperm, so if the sperm doesn't meet the egg, there is no fertilization, and the egg will be 'destroyed' after a certain amount of time. If in fact the egg IS fertilized by the sperm, sometimes a pregnancy will not hold or take, and that can cause you not to be pregnant. Implantation is what happens when the ALREADY fertilized egg implants into your uterus. This doesn't happen unless the egg HAS been fertilized. Good luck to you!

ok sorry that might not make any sense...lets try again....when the sperm and the egg meet does it always result in fertilization???

only if the sperm pentrates the egg. Then the egg is fertilized. After that it travels down the uterine tube for 3-4 days. Then when it reaches the uterus it will float free for 2-3 day untill it finds a place to attach to. About 7 days after ovulation, this is called implantation.

no, some women conceive but something was wrong with the lining in the uterus making it impossible for the egg to implate, it comes out with your mense, without you ever knowing u were pregnant. hopw that helped.

And to answer your question "j": No, even if the sperm gets right up to the egg, they chances are that it does not penetrate the egg.
