Ovarian Cysts Or Pregnancy

Has anyone noticed that the symptoms for ovarian cysts and/or pregnancy are like almost identical- expect missing periods. My symptoms- bloated and pain in abdomen, queasiness, sore breats, constipation, gas and tiredness. Talked to my doctor yesturday and she suggested it could be either pregnancy or cysts?? Feel quite scared either way. Has anyone ever thought they were pregnant and had cysts?

I was in the exact situation. I didn't get a period for 60 days and had ALL (well, most) of the pregnancy symptoms). I went to the doctor because I kept getting BFNs and I was SURE I was preggos. It turns out I had a large cyst on my right ovary. The doctor explained that the hormones excreted by my cyst were causing the pregnancy-like symptoms. Mother nature loves to play nasty little games on us. Good Luck. I hope you are pregnant and without cysts!

Do you mind telling me what happened with the cyst? Did they have to operate? Are they dangerous?

nlouise, i too have had cysts. one actually did get so big that i had to be operated on. in most cases the cysts do go away on their own, in about a couple of cycles. did your dr schedule you for an ultrasound to see if indeed it was a cyst?

Hi, nlouise....I actually am going through the whole cyst thing. In a matter of 6 weeks I had 3 periods and this last one sent me to the hospital. I just seen the doctor yesterday and the cyst on my right ovary ruptured. Let me tell you, I have never been in so much pain! I am on 2 different antibotics and pain meds. In 2 weeks I will be scheduling a Hysterectomy because I have cysts and basicly a Disfuntional uterus, which is what I want...I have 2 kids and am happy with that.

wow. sounds quite scary. I had ct scan last week and that was clear though- shouldn t a cyst have showed up on that. Am well confused?!

I had an ultrasound found my cyst...I had a Cat Scant 2 nights ago when I was in the ER and they said it was clear...which I knew I had a cyst. So I really don't know, that's just my experience...good luck

Well, I went to my doc because I had not had a period in 2 months and I was having cramps on one side. The doc thought it might have been an ectopic pregnancy because we were TTC...he sent me in for an ultrasound and they found a large complex cyst that was hemmoraging. The cyst was 7cm in diameter...bigger than a tennis ball. The doc referred me to a gyn and the earliest that I could get in was scheduled for a month later. In the meantime my cyst ruptured and it hurt like a b***h! I did not need surgery because my cyst ruptured on its own. I don't know if cysts are dangerous (ie. life threatening) but I am pretty sure that they can threaten fertility. I am still hoping that you are preggos and don't have a cyst. Good Luck Nlouise!

I had an ovarian cysts a few months ago. I am on the pill but I feel like I am pregnant. My b___sts are huge and hurt and my stomach is bigger then normal. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests that were all negative. I don't know If it is from the cyst or that i am pregnant and I need to wait longer before a positive pregnancy test will appear. I am pretty nervous either way.

Hi ladies, about 3 months ago I experienced a 70 day cycle that resulted in an ultrasound and medication given to force the menstruation. Turns out I didn't have a cyst but instead had a blood clot in one of my tubes the size of a walnut. The medication forced the clot out and then I had a nice healthy flow. It hurt and I thought I was PG because of the delay in menstruation & the "symptoms" but it turned out my body was out of whack. Good luck to you!!

Soimpatient, out of curiosity, were you temping when you had your cyst. If so, did your chart show an ovulatory pattern?
