You ovulate on the pill. It doesn't supress that, that's why you get a period. The pill just makes your uterus "unfriendly" for anything that gets fertilized and to implant. so i guess you can ovuate soon after the pill... im no doctor but i think thats how the pill works not sure 100% cause ive never been on the pill.. gl baby dust to all of us who want it and NEED it :)

Um, I believe the pill does supress ovulation. The reason you ovulate is because of your bodies need to produce estrogen. The Pill is estrogen. Since your body doesn't need to produce it because it is getting it from the pill, your body doesn't go through the whole process of ovulation. You get your period because you take the "sugar pills" for 7 days. This lack of estrogen causes a "withdrawl" bleed. It causes your body to think it needs to start the process of your menstrual cycle which is you shed the lining of your uterus. Having said all that, no, it is not common for women to ovulate right away after coming off the pill. It is in fact the opposite. It can take a little extra long to ovulate. Such as, if you stopped taking the pill at or right after the "sugar pills", you would have a withdrawl bleed, then probably the soonest you would ovulate would be 2 weeks later (about mid cycle) then start your period about 2 weeks after that (of course these are generalizations). Everyone is different, though. Obviously some people get pregnant on the pill because for some reason they ovulate anyway. I hope this helps clear things up.
