Hi everyone....just a couple of questions...my and my hubby are gonna ttc this month...today is cd 1...what I am wondering is about the luetel phase....Is it always 14 days from the beginning of this phase to the beginning of a new cycle??? And also when you ovulate does that mean you are starting this phase???? Somebody help would be nice to know before this phase happens....

Your luteal phase is the time period between ovulation and the next period. It is different for every person, so it is not necessarily 14 days. You can see how long your luteal phase is by charting your basal body temperature. You can read about this, and about the luteal phase, in Toni Weschler's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I found it very helpful.

Courtney~ Go to this website ~ www.mymonthlycycles.com It should help you with your questions as well as help you pinpoint your most fertile time. The luteal phase occurs after ovulation and ends the day before your period. So to answer your question, no, when you ovulate (ovulation by the way is a phase in itself) you are not starting the luteal phase. Hope this helps.
