what can affect bbt temps? and what is the normal range for fluctuation in tempertures?

illness (even slight), a change in sleep pattern (even by a small amount), not taking your temp immediately before rising, and you need a basal body thermometer that reads out to the tenth (or is it hundreth--I don't temp). best to you!

Oh, and of course your mentral cycle affects your temps. That is how you can detect ovulation. Also your temp usually drops right before af starts.

and remains low until you ovulate and it rises for the reminder of yur luteal phase.

Oh and if you do get pregnant youre temp will stay high for the entire pregnancy.

Good ones Lala! Also drinking excessive exercise, how late you ate dinner compared to the previous day. Everyone's temps are different. Mine range from 97.1-97.7 in the first two weeks, then 98.0-98.7 after I ovulate. Also don't waste your money on those quick read thermometers. I bought one, and the temps I was reading were DRASTICALLY different from the temps I was reading from my 60 second thermometer. If you do buy one that is a quick (10-30 second read) one, I suggest putting it in your mouth and holding it there for 60 seconds before turning it on to take your temp. I did that with my quick read and got a difference of 0.5 degrees!!

They're also quite different from person to person. My follicular phase temps range from 97.7-98.1, and my luteal phase temps range from 98.2-98.9. After a couple months of temping, it should become pretty clear how your own temps fluctuate throughout your cycle.
