Pregnant Or Not Pregnant THAT IS THE QUESTION

My periods are usually 7 or 8 days long and really heavy. Last month, it was 5 days and not as heavy. Earlier this month, I suspected that I was pregnant because I started getting a very heavy mucus flow, I began to feel light-headed and dizzy, slightly nauseated, got light heartburn, started peeing more, my back started to hurt, and I had been craving any high carb semi-low fat item.....and I am normally a health nut! This month, my period was only 2 or 3 days late and it only lasted 3 days and it was really really light. It was just some blood and mucus. So, When my pill back ended this month, I stopped taking them because I really think that I am pregnant. I have a doctors appointment at the end of the week......but What else should I do? Am I pregnant?

Your recitation of early signs is pretty convincing. If the signs only started ten days ago, it may be early for a home test or a doctor to tell for sure. If there is a pregnancy and your plan is to carry through with it, a home test on Christmas morning and a doctor appointment early in the New Year would be a more normal schedule. Just in case, stay away from alcohol and make sure you have folate in your diet (brown bread, Total cereal, etc,). Good luck!

Thanks Grandpa Viv. My symptoms have been around for about 2 and a half to 3 weeks. I am scheduled at the end of the week for a blood test, but should I ask for an ultrasound as well?

Michelle you probably dont need to ask for a sonogram at this point, wait to see what the blood test says...an early sonogram is really not the greatest idea unless your having pain...or have missed a period for a while and are worried something else could be wrong...I would stay off the pills..but remember now that you stopped them...it will take that long for them to regain strenght/protection when you begin them again..and it can also disturb your cycle...good luck
