PROVERA Inducing A Period Please Read This

PCOS - October 7

I am one week late for my period, my cycle is usually 6 weeks, I have PCOS so its been 7 weeks since my last period. My doctor gave a urine pregnancy test today-it was negative. So, she perscribed PROVERA in order to induce a period. Once I saw the pharmacist he mention if I had a blood pregnancy test. No, I didn't. He suggested I do that before taking the meds. I called my doctor about it-she said that urine tests are so accurate she's not concerned. But if I demanded a blood test she be OK with it--but not a must. She seemed very confident that a blood test was so unneeded. When I read the posts here there are so many of you that do not get a positive til you are much later than a week for AF. I am debating taking the med now or waiting for a blood test?! If anybody has had this experience-let me know. I realize that this is more of an opinion question, but I'd like to hear input. Whether its an opinion, comment or experience. Thanks.
