hey, i was just wondering if you can shed any light, i keep reading on these forums about women who are pregnant but sometimes even blood tests still say neg, but particularily hpts or doctors urine tests, i have trauled the web and not found anything, they usually say false negatives are caused by testing too early or by doing the test wrong, but is there any scientific reason why some women dont produce the hcg in urine or why hpts dont work on some women? i know false positives can be caused by people basically been alergic to the animals whos antibodies are in hpts, but i cant find a similar argument about false negatives, thanks

The levels of hCG vary quite dramatically from one pregnancy to another. Different tests give positives at different levels. We occasionally hear of negative urine tests all the way to 12 weeks. My suggestion is to rely on signs as much as hpt until missing a second period. Many women in a hurry to get confirmation will insist on a blood test, but a urine test will show positive not long after.
