Questions About OPKs

This is my first month using OPKs. The directions say that you O when the test line is as dark or darker then the control line. How many days can I expect to get a test line and control line that are equally as dark. Can I assume that when the test line goes away I am no longer fertile? How soon do you O after you get a positive OPK?

Hi Becca - i used opks for 3 months and have just got a bfp this month. When you get the dark line, that means that you have the LH surge and will ovulate within the next 12-36 hours. The instructions say that as soon as you see the dark line you don't have to test again as ovulation will occur within the next 36 hours. Good luck.

Thanks Justine, and congrats on your bfp! How long have you been trying? I tested last night and the test line was barely lighter then the control line. I tested again this morning and the test line is just barely darker then the control line, so I'll a__sume this morning was my + OPK. I also have tons of ewcm for the past 3 days and I have a little spotting today. It is a little bit early in my cycle for me to be Oing, so I sure am glad that I used the OPKs this month. Thanks again for your help!

Becca - i had been trying for 9 months and realised once i started using the opks and temping that i was ovulating 2 days earlier than i thought so i'd probably been missing my ovulation day for all those months...!!!! if your test line is now darker than the control then it looks like you'll be ovulating very soon. happy bd!
