Scared To Test Tomorow Had 2 BFNs So Far

I've had 2 BFNs so far on tests that claim to be early detectors (like First Response - Early). AF should be tomorow, so I'll test again. But I'm really nervous b/c I have been on BC for 4yrs and can't really tell what my cycle is... has anyone else had BFN's on early response tests up until expected AF and been preg?

I can't help you with your question but I am in the same situation as you- I have no Idea what a normal cycle is since I came off my birth control nearly 4 months ago. Are you sure tomarrow is your start date or are you basing it on your previous cycles from being on bc. I tried to base it on my usual ones from before and found out that I O'd a week and a half later than I thought. That put my cycle at 36 days. It's been really confusing but I try to just time it from my O. Wish you the best of luck.

Yes, last time I was pg, I took tests for about 4-5 days before af was due, they were all first response early tests. They were all bfn. Then the day af was due didn't come so I took a test that night and there was a very very faint line. So I didn't get my bfp till 14dpo. There's still hope until the ugly witch shows her face, so keep your chin up and hope for the best. It's not uncommon to not get a bfp until af is late. Good Luck to you.

Thanks girls. While on BC I found that AF didn't start until Tuesdays (but I had Sunday cycles). So maybe I do have longer cycles. The confusing thing is on BC you don't have a normal "cycle", but a withdrawl bleed from the absence of of the hormones. So there's really no way to tell. My MD got me all psyched out that we would get preg right away, and my DH got a girl preg on a one-night-stand about a year before we got married so I'm just stressing too much. And I don't have any symptoms so I'll just wait for AF to come and then try again.. :-(

heart_nurse, my cycles were the same way on birth control. Sometimes AF didn't arrive until the Thursday after starting the period pills. To be perfectly honest, I think you're infintely better off NOT a__suming you'll get pregnant right away. If it happens, then it's a great surprise. But you don't really want to have your hopes up too high in case it takes awhile. I'm on my 5th month and have hit all the right days every month. I'm on my 4th month charting. I had hoped I'd be one of the lucky girls who got pregnant right away, but I didn't realize that even in the best of circ_mstances the likelihood is only 20%. I just hope I make it within the 6 month average.

I just wanted to add that last october 1st I stopped bc pills and got pg that month. So you never know, good luck. They say you can be more fertile the first few months off the pill.

AshleyB, did you still calcultate your ovulation for a 28 day cycle when trying? I'm at 14 dpo today, and have not gotten a bfp or af

AshleyB - March 7

Yes, I didn't know much about all this ttc stuff, so I just used one of the ovulation calenders off the net. I used the average, 28day cycle 14 day luteal phase, and it worked out for me oddly enough. Hopefully you get your bfp soon.

Hi girls, Im CD 26 today and TTC 8 months now. I've been off BC for 8 months as well, so its not easy to concieve after the pills. I think I hit the nail right on the head every month and low and behold, nothing for 7 months. Now im in month #8 and hopeing that this is my month. Im due for AF 03/10. Wish me luck. Now preggo symptoms yet. The only thing that is weird is for the past 2 days, i've had this ache in my right hip and down my r leg. really weird!!!

Hopeful Mommy - March 7

this is weird and maybe tmi but anyone that has had a baby before that had like loose bowels. like going to the bathroom a lot?

heart_nurse - March 7

I've been reading conflicting views on fertility in the first months following BC. Can't find any research though. It makes sense to me that your body would be highly sensitive to LH immediately post-BC.

Lin - March 7

If women were somehow more fertile after going off birth control, I would think it would have more to do with their cervical mucous than LH. Many women don't even have a period for a couple months after going off birth control, so that would indicate a low LH, since this usually means they're not ovulating.

Hopeful Mommy - March 8

Just a question.........If you don't ovulate in a month, will you still have a period?

heart_nurse - March 8

I think that is probably the deciding factor, Lin. I bet that although some women are highly responsive hormonaly when coming off the pill, others are drastically the other way, taking months to swing back into it. And I'm pretty sure you can not ovulate and still have a period. But obstetrics has never been my area of expertise, so what do I know!

Lin - March 8

Yes, you can not ovulate and still have a period.

Patti - March 8

Hopeful Mommy, yes I had loose bowels when I was first pregnant. Good luck to all!

heart_nurse - March 8

Any dietary changes lately hopeful mommy? Sometimes ppl eat differently when stressed and don't notice, or maybe it is the stress that's causing your bowel changes. I've been having increasingly loose bowels to for the past few days, which is really uncommon for me. This morning I've been having total diarrehea... c___ppy!
