Should I Drink It Malaria Pills

I need to start drinking malaria pills for a trip into Africa. My doctor recommended that I drink Lariam. I am NOT pregnant, but I will continue trying to conceive the rest of this year. The doc says Lariam is safe for me. But as I child I drank Lariam once a year for our family holiday into AFrica, and Larium makes me hallucinate. One in 160 people hallucinate on Lariam. I really get sicko dreams and wake up totally wack. Do you girls think I should take this, is there not perhaps something better around?

Hi - I live in Tanzania and tok lariam when I lived in Mozambique. I would suggest you check around for an alternative - as they can be hapy pills, but can also send you a bit loopers, and also give you a really dodgy tummy. Depending on where you are going (bush/city or coast) and when (rainy season or not) you can check what the majority take when visiting the area - in some placed chloroquin and paludrin are sufficient, and in some places you can take an antibiotic which seems to work. There are also a number of natural herbal tablets which seem to be getting more popular. I'd check a bit more before you start popping larium, which is a really strong drug.
