Some Insight On The Cervix Q S

In my pregnancy book "the Mayo clinic complete book of pregnancy" it states that during early pregnancy, it begins to soften and turn a bluish color. And, that your doc looks for this change to confirm pregnancy. Many are asking if it is hard and closed-according to my book it is soft moist and high, but everyone is different. I am just trying to help as was looking for the same info. Also, during pregnancy, the opening of the cervix becomes blocked with a thick plug of mucous (mucous plug) that prevents bacteria from entering the uterus. As the cervix begins to thin and relax, preparing for birth, this can be shed little by little or all at once. Also, many women do experience a yellow discharge throughout pregnancy, ( I did) so I don't believe that the cevix ever really closes if your trying to use that as a confirmation of pregnancy. Because a discharge wouldn't be present if it was closed, right? I did find that it hardens prior to menstration, and closes after menstration, then opening with cm prior to O. But, cervical positioning takes place at different times after fertilization has occured, so if one day it feels lower than another day, please don't assume that your not pregnant. Because it can change. That's all I found, :)
