Temp Drop Before Ovulation

h__lo ladies, my temps have been pretty much the same this cycle, one day it shot way up, but i took it a couple hours late, the rest of the time i've taken it the exact same time every morning and today it had dropped down...does your temp drop right before ovulation? I haven't gotten a positive opk yet, but i have partial ferning on my microscope. I am on cd 15, i took clomid 150mg cd 2-6. I'm not sure when I ovulated on my last cycle of clomid, this is my third...I didn't use opks or anything last cycle. but my dr said he thought it was pretty late in my cycle, not too late b/c I did a progesterone check on cd 21. anyway....i was wondering who had experience with the temp thing if that is how it happened? and when do you normally get your positive opk compared to when your temp drops? my chart is FF /home/mrose thanks ladies!

Your temp can definitely drop a few days before ovulation and also before you get a + opk. Most women ovulate within 10 days of finishing their Clomid, which is probably why your doc said it's a bit late given that you haven't had a + opk yet. Remember not to put too much faith in temps while you're on Clomid, though. One month my temp didn't go up until about 5 days after ovulation, and I know when I ovulated, because I triggered. Temps can definitely be wrong on that stuff, so just bd every other day to keep your bases covered. Good luck!

thanks Lin, yeah the temps really do confuse me. I just hope I get a + opk soon. does the trigger seem to help? i had thought about asking my dr about doing that next cycle

Hasn't your doctor been doing ultrasounds to check your progress? If not, you really should push for them. When I was on Clomid, my doc would do an ultrasound on the day I got my LH surge or, if I didn't get one, sometime around cd 14 to see what was going on. Why are you on Clomid? Is it because you don't normally ovulate on your own or because you're trying to increase the number of eggs due to male factor?

hi! mine always dropped the day before by a couple, it doesn't have to though. i wouldn't always trust the opk either because my 1st cycle of clomid i ovulated on cd14 and never got a + opk. and yes, the u/s definately helps!

Lin, no, he hasn't been checking me by ultrasounds or anything. he just gives me the clomid tells me to take it, tells me to bd every other day, and then on cd21 i go in for a progesterone check to see if i ovulated, if not, he gives me proverra to start my period, and if i did then he tells me to wait a couple weeks, if no af then test. i think i'm going to go talk to him after this cycle, before the next one begins and ask that we do the ultrasound checks and maybe even the trigger shot, that way i'll know when i ovulate, b/c i'm not very good at bd every other day. I've been too stressed to bd. I just found out my dad has lung cancer, so I've been stressed over that, not to mention the not ovulating thing! ugh! Anyway....I think I did ovulate though, I had EWCM, and my ovulation microscope showed ALOT of ferning the other day, not to mention the pain in the side...anywho, thank you ladies for the answers
