This is my first month temping....I do not understand why are my temps so high all the time??? I tried to compare to other charts and they are all much lower... I mean I have a slight headache today but I am not sick or anything... Please advice...home/Martha31

Hi Martha. I have several different thermometers at home, and my kids figured out a couple of years back which one was most likely to permit them to stay home from school with a low fever... Once I figured out that they had a preference for a specific thermometer (I believe I had 3 digitals at the time because I couldn't find one once or twice and bought another), I saw what they were up to and tested all three at the same time on myself... sure enough, they all gave different temps and the ones my kiddos liked was a bit over a degree higher than the other two. That's why you use the same one all cycle. Try picking up one more, an inexpensive digital at the grocery or pharmacy, and verify the "higher" temp before you get concerned. I just looked at your chart. I think you're ok... For example, this cycle mine have ranged between 97.70 and 98.44 (all pre O). Last cycle pre O they ranged between97.9 and 98.5 (98.5 during af). After O's last cycle ranged 98.33 to 98.8 (switched to basal digital just after that 98.8).

ok then...I think I'll continue with this one till the end of my cycle though...just to make sure that I do not mess up my chart. I have several thermometers at home (for my baby)...I'll try couple of them to compare...I never thought that there could be such variations... thanks a lot:)

yes, definitely don't change thermometers mid cycle...I also started a new cycle with a brand new thermometer I went and bought. I didn't get a BBT thermometer, but I spent about $12 on a good digital one that goes to 1/10 of a degree and shows the final temp in like 9 seconds. Also, read the instructions that come with the thermometer. it's funny, but I thought "oh, I know how to use a thermometer" and almost tossed the sheet, but when I looked closer it had a diagram in it to show where you should place the therm under your tongue. There is a "heat pocket" near the way way back by your molars where it should go for an accurate temp. I had been placing mine in the front right under my tongue all along and the difference was huge! But, again don't make any changes until a new cycle. Good luck!
