The chances of conceiving from s_x five days after your period started are very, very low.

ok...call me stupid, but when exactly is the fertile window??? im not temping or anything but how many days before expected ovulation and how many after???

Sperm can live up to 5 days (some say 7), but very few actually live that long. The average is 2 days. Therefore, it's possible to conceive from s_x up to 5 days before you ovulate, since the little guys linger around. The egg, on the other hand, only lasts from 12-24 hours once it's released, so you can get pregnant from s_x at latest one day after ovulation. Therefore, a__suming you know when ovulation occurs, your fertile window is from five days before to one day after. Every woman is different, though, so it's hard to determine ovulation without using opks and temping. The signs you want to watch for are your cervical mucous, which is like egg white or watery when you're fertile, and your cervical position and texture. Your cervix will go from low, firm and closed to high, soft and open around the time of ovulation. Afterward, it can vary. It may take awhile to get a good grasp of how your body changes around ovulation, but after a month or two, it should become clearer. Good luck!

sorry, tmi...when youre ovulating doues your cm become thinck and white...is that what you mean??? and, if so... does this happen before, during, or after you ovulate???

Ive read that the cm goes really clear and stretchy.. but i dont know from personal experience as i never took notice. all i know is that the more s_x u have before ovulation the better, your cervix will open a little b4 u ovulate and that gives those little guys the chance to swim up to your fallopion tubes and wait for ovulation. Day 14 is usually the general rule if you have a 28 day cycle (starting from the first day of your last period) but not always true, with this pregnancy i ovulated on day 11. You might also find an increase in libido around ovulation aswell!!

San_dee is right that's it's the rule but isn't always right. For example, I have a 28-day cycle but a 15-day luteal phase, so I ovulate on day 12. As for your cm, it should be like egg-white in consistency. In most cases it's clear but can also be white. Mine has the consistency sometimes of the jelly at the bottom of a can of spam. Clear and watery cm is also fertile.
