No not all the time. Wait 14 days after your last period and take the test . It would be better this way.

Since all women are different, and since some women's hcg levels rise slower than others, you can't really rely on that "standardized" statement of "up to 5 days before...". That would only be accurate if all women had the same hcg levels at the same point in pregnancy. Does that make sense? What you need to look at is the sensitivity. First Response Early Result is one of the most sensitive. However, if your levels aren't there, it won't pick it up. And if your levels ARE there, then it wouldn't matter what brand of test you used, if it had the same sensitivity as FRER, then it would also test positive. I didn't test positive until nearly 2 weeks AFTER my missed period with my 2nd son. With one of my miscarriages, I didn't test positive until over a week AFTER my missed period, and I was using a test that was even more sensitive than the FR. In another miscarriage, that exact same brand of test picked up positive 4 days BEFORE my missed period. Same test, 2 VERY different results. That means my levels rose faster the second time than they did the first. I hope this helps. Good luck!
