I'm just wondering how low my odds are of getting pregnant from unprotected sex on cycle day 10 - my periods are almost always 28 days, only occasionally a day earlier or later. Please share input!!

It really depends on when you ovulate. From the length of you cycles you probably ovulate around cd14, but you don't know that for sure. Your most fertile time is the few days before ovulation, and sperm can survive in fertile cervical mucosa for up to 5 days (Most sperm live for 2 to 3 days). You do have a chance of being pregnant. I am not sure if you want to be or not, but the best of luck to you no matter what!!

Hey thank you for your responses! I'm not trying to get pregnant...it's actually a really long story, but basically things got a little carried away with my ex, and yeah...I'm just wondering if I need to be concerned or if you all think I'm most likely safe. Is there any way I would be able to tell when I ovulate if I haven't already? ZenGirl - how do you know you ovulate around cd 10? Is is posssible for me to ovulate at cd and still start my af on day 28? Thanks again!

** Is it possible for me to ovulate at cd 10 and still start my af on day 28? ** Also...if I do ovulate on day 14 this cycle, how much of a chance do I have of conceiving?

yes it is possible to ovulate on cd10 and start af on cd28. you just have a longer luteal phase. instead of 14 it will be 18. i have read where some women ovulate right after their periods end! good luck!

Kairfree, you sound like a candidtae for PLAN_B. If you are young and fertile the chance of conceiving on CD10 is in the 10 to 15 percent range. Sperm can last 5 days, and ovulation can be days earlier than the textbook CD 14. There are signs of ovulation like stretchy cervical mucus and soft high open cervix. PLAN_B is available without prescription at many pharmacies for about the same price as a pack of birth control pills. It should be taken ASAP after a contraceptive mishap, and no later than 72 hours after. The overdose of hormones may give you signs of pregnancy and an off-schedule bleed. Good luck!
