I have been haveing symptons like i may be preg. such as freq. urination, sore br___t, tired all the time, and even lightheadedness, i am not but about 2 days late. I have taken 3 HPT, which one wich looked to be pos. but the line was faint, the second u could barely see. and the third neg. what do you think am i just parranoid?

Hmmm....No i don't think you are paranoid but If one was negative and the others had faint thats very puzzling. It could be that you had what they call evaporating lines which seem like a Positive. Did you take them all at the same time ? Please be more specific.

hpt don't work for everyone.

Thats not true Corinne. They work for all pregnant women because all pregnant women have the same hormone which it detects. Some will take longer to detect and some it's instant but it works for everyone.

If I am prego then I would be somewhere around 7-8 weeks along and i've tried a hpt 3 days ago was the last one i took and it came out bfn so I am not quite sure on if some women are more responsive to them than others

Brooke, I took 2 first response when I suspected i was pregnant and they had very faint lines. I had used afternoon urine so I used another the next morning and it was negative. I waited till about lunch time and used my last and it was positive. It left me very confused so I went that afternoon and bought the digital that says pregnant or not pregnant and it came up with pregnant. I think I used a total of 13 test (lol) because I was so confused! All came up positive except the 1 negative and 1 dud test. It took about 4 days before i got a really really clear positive with the hpt's and by that time i had already been to the dr and had it confirmed. Hpt's can be screwy but if you've had 2 faint positives, i'd test again and i don't think your paranoid. Emma is right, hpt's work for probably 99% of all women at some point during pregnancy. My cousin was one of the odd b___s though that hpt's didn't work for her, even during her 2nd trimester they would come up negative. Worked that way with all 3 of her kids. I have no idea why it didn't work, doesn't make sense to me, but she said they didn't.

Everyone has the same hormone and thats the only one the test is looking for. Like I said some women it may take longer because your not producing enough of it to detect or your not pregnant. Eventually the test will work on every pregnant woman

Celia- Thats really interesting about your cousin. I guess she is that 1% chance.

Corinne I was same way with my first pregnancy. Negative Hpt's, went to the gyno and he thought I had cyst, he gave me meds to make me start my period and made an appointment with a new dr 2 weeks later to have u/s done to check things out. When I had the u/s I was shocked to find I was over 8 weeks pregnant. Didn't try any more hpt's after that, but I know I was getting negatives until almost 7 weeks. Sometimes it just takes more time to show up. This pregnancy I got my first bfp at 4 weeks.

I've often wondered why she didn't and maybe it has something to do with her hormones... maybe she used too much/little urine.. handler defect (lol) I find hpt's interesting though how they work for each individual. I either got negatives or very very faint positives with fmu and darker positives in the afternoon. Most women are right oposite. Go figure?

that's wonderful i just wish that i had some clearer anwsers if you know what i mean. can't stand not knowing if my body is just screwed up or my hcg levels are still to low to be spotted.

corinne have you been in for a blood test? If you would be 7/8 weeks, it would definitly put your mind at ease to have one done. Hope you get your answer's soon!

Emma2 - March 30

It could very well be because she peed too much or too little on the stick. Who knows!

corinne - March 30

i plan on getting a blood test done soon. gotta wait till i get some money. I have no health insurance so its gonna be a tough one until then

Emma2 - March 30

I think so as well, that a blood test would be good at this point.

Celia - March 30

Try looking in the phone book for independent labs in your area. Alot of these labs will do blood test for individual's without a Dr's prescription. We have one that does a qualitive blood test for $27 and you get the result's in an hour or two. It saves having to pay for a DR visit and lab work. Good luck!

thanks hopefully they have something like that around here. I live in a pretty small town so it will be difficult to find somethin like that in this area
