My girlfriend was supposed to get her period sometime this week. Of course, it could still come either today or tomorrow.....but otherwise it would be 'later' than usual. One week ago, after having s_x she experienced some light bleeding. She thought it was her period...but it went away the next day. Was that bleeding a result of having s_x? She is under a lot of stress lately - could it be a result of that? Could it have been 'implantation bleeding'? We use condoms when having s_x. I suppose I am just getting a little stressed, as neither of us are ready for a baby at this point in time.

Does anyone have an idea? Thanks for your help.

Hi jt. Implantation bleeding is the exception, not the rule. If your condoms never slipped off or broke, you're probably not going to be a parent any time soon.

Thank you for replying, soso. It is interesting you mention that. There was once where the condom slipped off, but a) it was spermicide, and b) it also slipped off outside of her (not inside).

I wouldn't worry about it. Not only is implantation bleeding the exception rather than the rule, but it also doesn't occur until a week or more after the s_x that led to conception. I'd say that the bleeding she experienced was most likely due to one of two things: 1) a small internal tear that occurred during s_x or 2) ovulation (in which case she'd have ovulated late, and her period wouldn't be due for another week). If the condom did not come off or break while you were having s_x, then it's highly unlikely that she's pregnant.

so it looks like you're good. Spermicide (ow, it hurts to type that, I'm ttc after mc) is an excellent choice to go with condom for you. Not for me!

Thanks guys - you have made me feel a lot better. I know nothing is for sure, but I'll keep you updated. Are there many other guys on this site??!

LIN - March 3

There are sometimes a few, but they normally don't stick around. Guys usually only come to this site (or any other pregnancy site, for that matter) when, like you, they're worried that their girlfriend is pregnant.

There IS ONE guy who is here all the time, but he's a MAN, not a guy... LOL, and a Grandpa to boot. I think he may be an obgyn... does anyone know the truth about Grandpa Viv, cuz gosh darnit if I haven't asked a thousand times in the last year I have been on here and no one ever answers. He's alike a phantom that everyone protects...LOL

There was a husband on the miscarriage part of the site briefly. I hope he got lots of points at home for caring so much.

Oi! How could I forget Grandpa Viv?! He's probably the single most useful contributor to this site. No, he's not an obgyn. He's just a very nice man who is an advocate for educating women on their bodies and pregnancy. He used to have a website, but I just checked to see if it's still there before posting, and it doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Hey everyone. We took a pregnancy test today and we are not pregnant. Her period is a week late now, so I think it was a fair time to take the test...and it says it's over 99% accurate. Once again, thank you all for your help...I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I was stressing out a LOT last week, but you all helped a bunch. Thank you.

Congratulations!!! :o)
