anyone have any info about ovulation?

On the day of ovulation, the egg is released from the ovary and starts to travel down the fallopian tubes. Eggs only live for about 24 hours, so it is probably best to have s_x the day before and the day of ovulation. Sperm can live for about three days, so it is a good idea to have some waiting when the egg is released. The problem is that it is impossible to accurately predict exactly when you are going to ovulate. You can buy ovulation predictor kits that tell you when your leutenizing hormone surge is (it occurs 24-48 hours before ovulation) but that is as close as you will get to predicting it. Your best bet is to have s_x every other day from when your period ends to a few days before your period is due. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions I'll try to answer them for you.

Deb, I have question for you. It might be very silly but, when I ovulated I had prominent pains on both sides, could that increase the possibility of twins?

I don't think your question is silly. Unfortunately, though, I don't know the answer. I do know that it is possible to ovulate more than one time in a cycle and that if you do, it usually happens within 24 hours of the first ovulation. I don't know if it is from the same ovary or the opposite one, though. The pains you felt could have been from the follicles developing, not necessarily from ovulation itself. Before I started using opk's I thought I was ovulating two days earlier than I actually was because I felt the pains and thought I was ovulating. Later I noticed I was getting the LH surge at the time of the pains, which puts ovulation at 24-48 hours after. I read that you can get pains from the follicle enlarging before ovulation and not necessarily from the follicle bursting for the egg to be released. I think your chances of having twins are slim, unless you have twins in your family. It usually skips a generation, so any twins in your grandparents or their siblings?

Well, twins not only run in my family, theygallop. Every generetion has had one or more sets of twins. Even the twins have twins!. They are all fraternal, either both boys or boy and girl. I had a dream I had twins and that is why they seem to be on my mind. Thanks for the response. There is a lot about ovulating that I apparently didnt know.

thanks Deb, this information will certainly help my chances.
