so i have now gotten af on cd 19 and i also had af on march 6 at cd21. i never ever get af early, its always cd28 maybe cd29. so i called the doctor and she said it could be from the hsg u/s.but what would be the reason for my last cycle? i dont understand why it is all of a sudden changing,i am not nearly as stressed as i have been and it just doesnt make sense even if it can change at any time. my labs came back normal and she said i may not ovulate normally even on a 28 day cycle so i may start injections. i am so frustrated.

Is af normal otherwise? As in number of days and intensity? That is pretty strange.

i always start out fairly light to moderate the first day. it always lasts 3-4 days. last cycle it was 2 full days. i have a liller headache and no cramps but sharp pain in ovaries. i took an hpt just to be sure it wasnt i/b and it was negative. it has been slightly different these last cycles but nothing too odd except for the short cycles.

Hi, Hope-31. You might just be having a regular life change. If you're unsure, test next month. Who knows, you may even regulate again. Mine has come 7 days early before.

it just b__ws my mind that i can go my whole menstruating life being regular like clockwork and then BOOM- it is totally going bonkers!

Hey Hope, that's so weird that your doc said the hsg might cause an early period. Did she happen to explain why? I had the hsg done this month as well and I'm cd26 of a totally normal cycle, af due in two or three days. The doctor never mentioned anything about it screwing up my cycle (I o'd like 6 days afterward). Do you chart or use opk's? I hope you manage to figure it out. That IS frustrating!

you dont think an hsg could affect a cycle? i dont know much about it but it would make sense to me i would think. im of the thinking that any untoward poking around up there could cause an issue lol unless im the only one w/a b___hy cervix. i think my period might be being delayed by a pap i had thursday. i was due yesterday and i am never EVER late & hpt is negative so far. hang in there hope!

she didnt explain why. my guess is it isnt from that since last cycle was early too. she said that wether or not im "regular" or not since everything else has been normal as far as tests go that i just might not be ovulating normal or the quality of my eggs could be bad. dh goes friday for his s/a and then we have another visit with the doctor to see what the "plan" is.i have not opk'd since last cycle because it gets so expensive even if i use the cheapies.plus even though i want it bad i am trying not to stress and i sort of have the feeling that since when i did test it didnt seem to help anyways so how much worse can it be if i dont.

hope (it jezebel btw, name change) why did you do the hsg before the sa? i saw my gyno last week & told him i send dh for an sa and he started laughing, he said i was his very first patient ever that he didnt have to convince to do that first with. he and i are of the thinking start simple then work your way up to the uncomfortable stuff. its a lot easier for dh to c_m in a cup than to have that procedure. 1/3 of the time its the mans fault anyway. im so surprised they didnt send him first. im sorry you are having a difficult time. idont think i can have the hsg even if i wanted to, im allergic to shellfish

Naomi98 - March 25

Woo, Jez, that's confusing! OK, glad I know that's you then! I don't know if the hsg can mess with your cycle or not, it's just that it was never mentioned as a possible side effect when I did it. We did the s/a first (and dh does have marginally low count) but I still went ahead and did the hsg just to rule it out. I mean, you need to check both sides of the equation right?! So what's the connection between shellfish and hsg? Is there something in the liquid they use? Anyway, count yourself lucky, it SUCKS man!

Naomi98 - March 25

yeah, I hear ya, usually I'm over it pretty quickly but the one or two months I didn't get the usual pre-af spotting, I was pretty disappointed when af showed. I still find the idea of being pregnant pretty scary so there's always a teeny weeny sense of relief, like phew, got away with it for another month lol! don't ask me, I know, deranged talk from a ttc'er! Hang on in there, there's hope til you bleed ;-) Babydust x

OMG naomi i thought i was the only one!!! i just said that to dh last night, honestly im terrified of being pregnantbut dh wants a baby so bad that im willing to try but every month ive been a bit relieved lolll and now that im actually late im FREAKING b/c im never late and this could actually be it and i know its been a year but i kind of found comfort in not getting pregnant, you know? ugh im an oddball

maybe for some reason you are ovulating REALLY early. That is so irritating. The cycle before I got pg was only 23 days, ovulation on cd11, same thing with the cycle I got pg...ovulation day 11. I never O earlier than CD15. have you been taking any vitamins or herbal supplements, or medications that might have influenced when you ovulated? usually short cycles aren't anovulatory, I think generally if you don't O during a cycle it winds up being way longer...not shorter. So you probably O'ed REALLY, REALLY early. frustrating, but look at it this way, less time to wait in between cycles - you can try again sooner! just be sure to cover all your bases and BD early on in your cycle.

hope-31 - March 25

why did you change your name jez? the first month that i o'd early i did catch it w/ an opk but that didnt matter any ways cuz we didnt get the egg. the doctor never said the hsg could bring on af early before i had it done, only after probably cuz its rare. they also never said to have dh do the s/a first before the hsg. oh well fortunately it was not a horrible experience, maybe a 3 or 4 out of a 10 but that was only cause i had just a few painful twinges and cramps.i had to call out of work today cause af is so painful. i had such a bad headache yesterday i thought i was gonna puke. the sde pain is awful. i am gonna get dh to bd tonite and tomorrow even though i am still bleeding for two reasons,1,i want to catch that early egg and also he goesfor his s/a friday and cant have s_x 2-3 days before. so then we will skip thursday and then friday nite or saturday.

bump

its less identifiable. its unfortunate they didnt suggest something less invasive first. i just got af & probably wont go to work tomorrow either.

Hey Hope, I guess Becky is right, you must be o'ing a lot earlier than usual. Weird, I wonder what causes that to happen? Good luck with the s/a - hope the swimmers are all present and going in the right direction! Jez, if you're an oddball so am I lol! So what's your fear of pregnancy caused by? I think mine is related to the fact that most of my 33 years has been spent not EVER wanting kids - I only really came around in the last 2 years and that was a SLOW process. I mean don't get me wrong, if i got pregnant, I'd be thrilled ... but also terrified - I'd have to seriously invest in "Minding a Newborn 101" cla__ses lol, I wouldn't have a clue!
