Why I Am So Anxious

I posted this in the 'What to expect" forum, but its pretty dead over there.So...My husband and I have randomly ttc throughout the past year. He is out of state right now and when he gets home he really wants to concentrate on it. And I am all of a sudden, kinda freaking out. I wasn't like this in the past few months..but now I feel over anxious about everything! How much weight will I gain, am I going to get stretch marks, am I going to be exhausted all the time, is this going to interfere with travel, is my face going to break out horribly?.....all these selfish, irrelevant things that are consuming my mind and causing me anxiety. How can I just relax and go with the flow?? I am 25 and my husband is 31. He has children from a previous marriage and I dont. I think I am just getting cold feet-the more I think about things, the more I freak out.

MelissaP let me ease your mind . . . everything you are feeling is normal. Sometimes its easier to just jump in with both feet than to have time to think about it because as with anything the more you think about something the more new things will pop into your head which can be good or bad. But rest a__sured, your anxieties are normal. Just remember you control how much weight you gain. You can gain very little (min of maybe 10 lbs) or you can gain a whole b___t load (literally) but it all depends on you. The stretch marks, well look at your mom and the other women in your family. Do they have stretch marks? If so than it is most likely that yes you will but you can also help those out by using vitamin E cream as well as not scratching your belly when it itches as it stretches. Yes you will be exhausted in the first tri and the third tri but it isn't truly as horrible as some people make it out to be. A few daytime cat naps help tremendously. Pregnancy should not interfere with travel within the USA nor abroad before 32 weeks. After that most OB's will suggest you stay closer to home in case of preterm labor. Your face and breakouts have a lot to do with your levels of hormones and again heredity. Did your mom or women in your family break out horribly? If they did and you have a tendency toward oily skin then it could be likely you will have a few extra zits here and there. Otherwise washing your face and cleansing it should keep those nasty things at bay. As for relaxing and going with the flow? hahahaha! If you find the answer, I am sure there are a million TTC'ers out there who would pay good money for your expert advice! GL to you and hopefully your anxieties will ease as you get into the TTC flow. :)

Thanks for the rea__surances. My sisters have little, if no, stretchmarks between them so I am praying I am safe in that area! My face does break out under stress and fluctuating hormones so I think that I am pretty screwed as far as that goes...lol. I am an anxious person to begin with, but I think you are right. The more time I have to think about it, the more I freak. I almost wish I was one of those women who accidently got pregnant then it would be done, and there would be no time to dwell. I am a natural worrier so this is going to be such a challenge. Thanks again!

its the fear of the unknown. we all know its possible to have any one of these things happen but unfortunately i compare pregnancy to getting on a ride you cant get off of. youre stuck until someone else lands the plane, regardless of whether or not you like the ride. thats what freaks me out about it anyway. youll be ok though, one day at a time is all you can do and you will deal with whatever comes. even if you arent happy about one thing or another and you have to do it one blessed MINUTE at a time, you will. this is what i tell myself anyway lol. hang in there :)

Thanks girls. It is good to know that I am not the only one that has anxiety over the anticipation of pregnancy! =)
