Why The Spotting

Last week maybe wednesday, I went to the bathroom and I noticed that I had dark, slightly bloody discharge, it was brownish. Didnt have it again till last night after I had s_x. I figured that it was just because of the s_x, then I remembered that it happened last week too. That time I hadnt had s_x. I usually dont ever any spotting. I dont know if I would have had my period. I should have started yesturday or today. But I decided to purposly skip my period and start another BC pack. Any ideas as to what that spotting was from? Would a test be accurate right now?

Anyone?

Brown spotting is indicative of old blood...not fresh. If you're are taking BC then the spotting is more than likely from the changing hormone levels caused from the pills. I'm not sure about if a test would be accurate...how long has it been since your lmp?

my last period was on 11/11 through 11/15.

It's highly unlikely that a test would be accurate this early.

Why are you worried that you might be pregnant? Did you miss some of your pills? If you were good about taking your pills each day and you simply started a new pack early to prevent the onset of a new period then it is not likely that you could be pregnant. Again the spotting was more than likely just caused from a change in your hormone levels.

Well, I havent been great at it this month. I rarley take it at the same time everyday. An often I forgot till the next day. The kind of birth control I take has the same amount of hormone in every pill, exept for the inactive week, obiously. I've never had the spotting happen before. Not even when I switched brands 8 months ago. Why would it start now Im wondering.

Sorry, but I'm not sure if anyone can help to say why you would be spotting this month and not others. I've been off of bc since mid summer as I am trying to get pregnant. I've never had any spotting and now out of no where I started spotting in the middle of my cycle this month. What I've found is that any kind of brown spotting is the shedding of old blood from the uterus. This is usually caused by a decrease in estrogen and can happen any time during a woman's cycle. The cause can be anything from medication, stress, excerise or even diet. I read some information that eating organic foods can even cause it. Apparently since your body is used to all the hormones in our food if you start eating organic (especially dairy) foods your body kind of has a withdrawal from the hormones it is used to. I don't know if there have been any scientific studies on this or not though. But I have only been eating organic dairy since I started ttc. Also, some women can spot one or two months out of the year and never any more...it's just kind of random.

If you're still concerned that you might be pregnant here's something to think about. Did you have any signs of ovulation? This would include cervical mucas with a stretchy consistancy that sort of resembles egg whites; nipples that feel tingly; light cramping on either side of abdomen.

Thanks mac_33. I know that no one can tell me why its happening, but the reasons why it may be happening I guess is what I was looking for. So Thanks. I hope that it happens for you soon. : )

Ok, so Im not spotting anymore. But now I've been having cramps for about three days now. I never get cramps when I purposly skip my period, and start a new pack. I shouldnt be feeling this way. I know no one can really answer my questions as to why this is happening now. But anyone have any ideas.

I do know of people that have gotten pg on bc... even when taken religiously... but that doesn't mean that you are pg ... a test won't hurt.. better to be safe than sorry. If you are worried about accuracy, you can ask the doc for a quant_tative hcg blood test. good luck! :)

This is so weird. Im still having cramps. Its all the time and almost like af cramps but slightly different feeling. Earlier today I felt like I was going to throw up. Gagged a couple times, but nothing came up. I dont know whats going on. I should be feeling normal.

i always get brown discharge for a few days before af...so it is normal.... x

Brown spotting is a hormonal thing or too much s_x! Deciding on your own when to have your period is one reason spotting happens. Why don't you let your body what it has to do?
