Ok im guessin that on the people who live in TN (tennessee) will know the answer to my question unless your just really smart. Ok my fiance is pregnant we are due Aug 22. now she has Tenncare for now but her parents are saying that if we were to get married that tenn care wouldnt cover her anymore...anybody think this is true????

I do not live in TN nor do I know what Tenncare is, but I would trust her parents input. If your girlfriend has this coverage through one of her parent's occupations then yes, she will lose the coverage if you are married. I live in the northeast and in my state you, if you are over the age of 18 you have to be a full time student to be on your parents insurance, and once you are married... you are emancipated from your parents, meaning you are responsible for yourself. Hope that helps a bit.

from the way i understood it with my sister she had Tenncare and they dropped her when she got married but for some reason since they didnt have insurance keep her daughter covered. (west Tn)

it also has to do if either of you have a job that offers insurance. you have to take the jobs insurance. that is why they dont have any is because they cant afford his jobs insurance.

Hey, I live in Tennessee. Tenncare isn't based on wether or not you are married. It's based on income. If the two of you marry then your income will also be used to determine elegibility. You would have to make a pretty good amount though. All she needs to do is contact the local DHS, they can give you both the details. But, to answer your question, her parents are wrong. Hope this helped.

well my family is saying about the same thing as you are saying USMC_wife..but it seems her family is on a different side of things

Maybe they just don't want you two to marry, and are using this Tenncare issue as a good excuse. Who knows. However, it doesn't matter what side of things they are on....they aren't the ones determining if she can stay on it. What part of TN are you guys in?

lol.....small world. I live in Gatlinburg. Have her call DHS on Monday to find out about Tenncare. I have the Sevier County office number, but you will have to look up the one for your county.
