If your step dad really is a pervert, talk to your local police, tell them your story and ask if you can get emancipated.

i already tried that. the police said that i cant just get emancipated becuz of him and becuz hes an ex-cop and theres no proof and he denys it. but is there any other ways i could get emancipated. do i have to have a parental signature to get emancipated?

What state do you live in?

Well it would make a difference knowing how your step dad is a pervert, where you live, and how old you are... If you could tell me those things then i could help you out with your problem...

My sister way emancipated when she was 16. I do know that you have to be self supporting... that means: you have to have your own place to live (not with friends, family, etc...), you have to be employed, you have to be in school, etc... If you aren't already living in your own apt. that you are paying for by yourself, you may find it difficult to be emancipated.

im not really getting much of what that site says something like: verified by the pet_tioner--?? That the minor willingly lives apart from his parents or legal guardian with the consent or acquiescence of his parents or legal guardian;---does that mean im going to have to have my parents sign something or something like it? my mom or my step dad wont ever in a million years sign anything to let me get emancipated. im screwed. i will be stuck here forever and my parents want to move me away from everything here. i want out after im 16 and i just cant leave...what should i do? i cant talk to my mom cuz she will say nooo never and she wont let anything happen

Well, in Canada you can legally move out at 16, emancipated or not. I'm not sure how it works in the States...

The states really have a great way to screw you. I'm from Illinois, so I know. How is it you are supposed to be LIVING on your own if you have to be emancipated in order to rent an apartment or any home? I mean, thinking about it drives me nuts. You can't move out on your own unlessyou can support yourself, fair enough, but HOW are you supposed to get a lease if you are under 18, or for that matter work enough hours to make rent and go to school at the same time when you aren't allowed to work many jobs second shift due to being underage and in school. Ick, I hate our system. It makes no sense and just wants to herk people around instead of being straight up. I think you are going to have to wait because my dad is a drunk and he was abusive and my mom was a druggie but I couldn't be emancipated because they wouldn't give me permission.
