hey girls-- this is actually for my friend but i didnt know the answer lol. her last period was april 25th and she thinks she was supposed to ovulate on may 9th(according to an ovulation calender on line). she had unprotected s_x on the 17th. she also thinks on the 11th and 12th but she cant remember. she's on BC and she was supposed to get her period sunday (21st). its obviously to soon to take a test but is it possible that she couldve gotten pregnant? ive never understood the whole ovulation thing so i cant tell her. if anyone can help we'd appreciate it! thanks

Alot of tests can be taken the day you miss your period. Try buying a clearblue digital pack with two tests. I used that and it was great and simple. If she gets a negative tell her to take another test in 3-5 days, use first morning urine for the tests.

Being on BC there is a 1% chance of pregnancy. You do not ovulate while on BC.

thanks to the two that have answered so far. i got pregnant on BC...but i see what youre sayin. we're just tryin to see if its possible or not cause it was more than 24 hours after ovulation. i know the sperm only lasts 24 hours or somethin so i dunno

Your information is incorrect. Sperm can survive 5 days with the average being 2 days. There has been a record of it lasting as long as 7 days. But this is in ideal conditions of your v____a and uterus. In order for sperm to survive you need to have the right cervical mucus which is found primarily during your fertile time and day of ovualtion. Your friend clearly did not have s_x at the proper time and being on BC your less likely to have cervical mucus due to not ovulating.

http://www.epigee.org/guide/medfaq.html says that most of the time you do not ovulate while on the pill, and that absence of menstruation is a possible side effect. Good luck!
