My 17 yr old daughter is 33 1/2 weeks and is in labor with conractions 6 minutes apart but no dilation. It is has been 17 yrs for me since I had a child but my labor was easy. What can we do to helo her to start the dilation process.////

Honestly i would make her walk....but take breaks so she doesnt get too tired out...and i would just talk to your hospital or midwife....good luck

Google " labor dilation " and take the second link from cnn. False labor can often be walked off. True labor is 5 minutes or less between contractions and the contractions are consistent in length, getting longer as labor progresses. Good luck!

Personally i would try to get them to stop labor at 33.5 weeks the baby MAY/may not end up in the NICU as the baby is still preterm

I really hope you went to the hospital, 33 weeks is pretty early. I'd say the chances of at least a few days in NICU are pretty high. I did a lot of research on preemies during my pregnancy as I was having multiples (I was also a preemie myself). Good luck, I hope everything is OK.

Thank you for all the advice. I did take her to the hospital last night and they did stoip her labor. Contractions were 3 minutes apart but no dilation. Hopefully she will be able to go a little longer. From the ultrasound, he weighs about 4.9 lbs right now. I will keep you informed. THANKS so much
