I'm nineteen and I'm going to be 10 weeks pregnant in two days, my fiance and I are going in for our first ultrasound. What exactly happens when you go in for an ultrasound for the first time? Like what do they do, and how does it all go? I'm kind of excited but also nervous.

since you arent too far along what tehy'll probally do is put the gel type stuff on your belly, and then use their machine and put the part that detaches all over that area of your stomach and then they just show you different things on the screen- however i could be wrong cause i got my first one at around 16 weeks. nothing to be scared about though :o) it's neat.

Don't be nervous Marie - it's pretty straight froward. You'll be asked to have a full bladder as it pushes your uterus up, making it clearer to see on the screen. They'll squirt a little gel onto your stomch and use a thing to find your baby. Good luck.

Thanks, when should I be expecting another ultrasound after that? And usually how many ultrasounds do you have throughout a pregnancy?

you should have another around 18-20 weeks or so, then they will be able to determine the baby's s_x. It also gets a lot more clear the further you are into the pregnancy. It's neat :o) I think a normal pregnancy has 3-4 ultrasounds..but if the baby is in breech or if something is wrong you may be asked to have more!

I had my first ultrasound at around 9 or 10 weeks. It was a v____al ultrasound.
