So a lil update on me...Hubby and I are now back to ttc after the Okay from the doctor yesterday. =) yay. I have been put on Levothyroxin i have to take every morning. She said that this should dramaticly effect me and i should notice this difference in the first two weeks of being on this pill. This pill is for an underactive thyroid and should help me conceive quickly and safely. the baby should be fine and i can carry the child to full term. I also will be concidered a high risk pregnancy and my dosage will have to be changed through out each pregnancy depending on the baby and whether or not baby is getting enough from me. I should start to lose weight which i have gained a bit and it was harder to lose because of the side effects for an underactive thyroid. My periods should return to normal as they were before. i should be able to have a normalllll sleeping pattern for once and i wont be sooo tired. Not only this...but guess what!!! I've found out I'm not a diabetic!!! i was diagnosed when i was 10 but I dont have it!!!! they overlooked my thyroid since they cause some of the same symptoms. Funny huh...hahaha. Yay. I never needed inciline shots or anything..i just had to have sugar because i was so damn tired sometimes and i though i just had low blood sugar...lol but it wasn't.. Hahaha. Damn doctors sometimes huh. Lol . I'm soo glad i got checked out. I've had two miscarriage and when i went in the doctor was alll over me. Lol tests tests tests....lol and she thinks shes found the issue. A normal thyroid level is suppossed to be 4.....my leve is 6.8 and its higher because its not working hard enough and my brain is making it pick up the slack so now its just getting worse. Slower ..i still dont have some sort of presence of anti bodies that means its really bad...so thats good..shes trying to fix it before it goes downhill all the way. So..yay..my period is almost over and I shuold be peachy from now on. I have to get my levels checked again in 8 weeks when i'm done with my first 2 packs of levothyroxin. So...yay. Everything should be peachy from now on. I hope i get preg this cycle!!

I understand ur problem completely....I too have hypothyroid...but I wonder why ur dr didn't prescribe synthroid...its more effective... when u do concieve expect ur levels to go way out of wack...mine went up to 1026 ...normal is between 1-7...r u seeing en endrocronologist? u will want to look up what foods affect ur meds...like dark green veggies actually prevent u from absorbing ur meds...and I think u can't take calcium pills or calcium orange juice within 3 hours of taking ur pill. there is tons of info out there on it make sure u read it...and yes leveling out ur numbers is going to make ttc much easier...and keeping on top of it makes ur baby much healthier! gl ur in my prayers. and dailystrength.org has a community full of people with the same problem...hypothyroid and ttc. gl again!

No i'm not going to see an endocronologist yet....umm shes proscribing levothyroxin because i'm only border line..my thyroid hasn't totally broken yet but its sitting on the fence..shes hopin to get to it before it gets any worse. My level is 6.8 and i was told the normal levels were 1-4 . they will have to change the dosage during a pregnancy and it is going to make ttc much easier. I was told that in 8 weeks i'll have another blood draw and depending on those levels..i'll either be going to an endocronologist or i'll be staying on this med...oh and i dunno why synthroid is but there are different meds and i know others who are on levothyroxin. just depends on each person.

oh I'm trippen, I thought I read that lol, it's early in the morning man.

PreciousBaby19 - November 20

huh?

ShoppingForTwo - November 20

I thought I read that your pregnancy will be high risk. . .

PreciousBaby19 - November 20

Lol I will be high risk...to a certain degree...lol i just wont need so many scans..just looked after a bit more than normal..my file will say high risk because i've had two miscarriages and my levels have to be checked closley...in the beginning more though .

PreciousBaby19 - November 20

I have a greater chance for PP D too...that sucks.

thyroid-info.com/articles/pregnancy.htm heres a website thet best describes hypothyroid....and pregnancy..lol aparentely i have to be checked as soon as i find out i'm pregnant..and again at 7 weeks and then again at 9...i think in the first 12 weeks..i'm checked a LOT.because the baby relys on my thyroid for the first 12 weeks. after that i think i will be checked more than a normal pregnancy but less than ia high risk..hehe its still all new to me.

ok...I'm glad ur doing ur research that's great...the more u know...the better...I have been on synthroid since I was 11....(14 years now) synthroid is the actual drug...u r taking the generic...I personally can't take it b/c it doesn't work for me...but if ur body is responding to it that's great! norma range is generally 1-7...where u are is on the lower end of the scale and raises concern since u r trying to concieve.... and yes ur baby does need ur thyroid to be functioning properly due to the hormones it controls in ur body. as long as they keep ur med where they need to be (by monitoring with blood work) ur baby will do just fine (when that time comes) and yes hypothyroidism can lead to depression and ppd ... I'm glad ur so educated on it...there are so many girls that are ttc learn they have a problem and don't do anything about it... don't let it stress u though like I said I am on meds for it...and now I'm 34 weeks pregnant and my baby is just fine and my bloodwork is good too....glad they figured out what was going on and gl in ttc...can't wait to hear good news... :)
