lol you going for the epi?

The moment I walk through the door of the hospital I'm grabbing the first doctor/nurse I see and threatening them with bodily harm if they dont give me drugs! I'm the wimpest person when it comes to pain. You really going to try?

KaseyA - March 5

Yeah I really want to try. But if it gets to be too much I think I'll go for something other than an epi. I also really want to use a birthing tub.

im actually considering it... call me crazy but im more afraid of needles than all that pain..

I did. Ouch. lol. I was induced though so my contractions were one on top of the other. I was in labor from 1:30-9:52 with nonstop contractions, so it made me reconsider a few times. But I was glad I did it. Plus it made recovery a lot easier and I dont have to worry about the side effects of the epi or back pain from it later on. The breathing techinques from childbirth cla__s really did come in handy!

And sarahsteele, I know exactly what you mean! I hate needles! The epidural video freaked me out more than the labor videos! The worst part of labor for me was the iv. The nurse was inexperienced and blew my vein and my blood pressure dropped to 30/20 and the baby's heartrate dropped to 40. They were getting ready to prep me for an emergency c-section but the gave me oxygen and turned me on my side and gave me juice and got it to come back up! No iv for me next time!!

I did it, it was bloody painful and exausting but i managed i did have gas n air that was a god send i used it more for biting then breathing good luck !!

I'm more worried about the epi than anything. Or narcotics making the baby drowsy.

To be honest i say the best birth to have is natural and calm because there is no drugs effecting the baby and with u not stressing out keeps the baby from stressing out but i no that can always happen :) when are u due KaseyA

sarahsteele - March 5

yeah!.. ill have gas if i need it. but other than that i dont think im going to have anything else.. i surpose if u think of what ur getting out of it the pain will seem like nothing once u see the little thing in your arms.

well i tried really hard to have a natural child birth with my daughter. after a while they gave me patosin and the contractions hurt so bad i would cry every two mins and wasn't relaxing i stoped dialating at 9 so two hours of staying at 9 the doctor said i had to have a epi so i did didn't feel a thing when i was pushing for 21/2 hours and i reoverd fine and no side effects. so good luck to all of you

when i had my son i said i wasnt going to have anything but once your in that pain you just dont care haha...as for the drugs...the doctors wouldnt give them to you if it was a concern...it is completly normal and okay to have medication to ease the pain...but if you can go all natural good luck to you !

KaseyA - March 5

I'm due July 21 :)

im more scared of the needles as well....blood work is coming up soon and I think Im going to pa__s out...All natuarl for me...if they can do it in the olden days...I can do it today!!! Good luck!

maren - March 6

I pretty much had a natural labor i did have a bit of demerol to help me relax inbetween my contractions. just play it by ear...go in saying im doing this natural but when the pain comes if after trying to relax or whatever you try doesnt work its ok to try something weather its the Epi or something else
