My daughters just over 8 months and i was using boiled water for all her bottles up until about a month ago then I decided to use bottled water to prepare them. I was wondering if you use boiled water for making the bubbas or if you still boil the water. The only reason i'm asking is because the minerals that are in boiled water arent there in a bottle so is that a worry to any other mothers? I'm also wondering what precautions you take in washing the baby bottles. I used to wash all by hand then finally switched to dishwasher, but thats fine expcept for i still wash the nipples by hand and boil them butttttt they stink of soap. anyways i'm pretty much just wondering what you moms do. Thanks

I boil the water for my daughters bottles, I did for my sons too. One time our county where I used to live, sent out a paper saying the water had something in it that wasn't good for babies or elderly people because of their immune system, I was so happy I was boiling the water! I don't worry about the minerals because formula has soooo many minerals and vitamins, its all on the can. I wash the bottles by hand but if I had a dishwasher, that'd be AWESOME lol. The dishwasher uses really hot hot hot water so that acts like a sterilizer. You can always buy new nipples and bottles if your unhappy.

well i never boiled her water for bottles when we started formula at about 3 months old...but i have well water so im not woried about any funky city stuff. Minerals in boiled water??? do you mean bottled water because just by boiling water its not going to add minerals.I use the dish washer to wash her bottles i dont always have the time to hand wash them

I get nursery water for my daughter. I wash her bottles out, and boil them at the end of the day when she's asleep. =)

sorry to point out to you maren but well water is WORSE than city water. City water goes through water plants and gets all of the bad stuff out. Well water is just water down in the earth that hasn't been run through tests or de-chloronized. In my first post, the city sent out a paper saying be careful if your going to feed the water to the babies, that was because of the water tanks, they needed to update them, it wasn't the water in general, just where the water was sitting in. Just be careful, I would DEF. boil water especially if it was well water, I don't mean to come off rude.

ok im sorry but no Well water is defenitley good lol if it was so bad citys would be tearing up the well water tanks and instaling city piping. i have had city water before and honestly its not the best the reason they go through so many different reprocesers or whatever you want to call them it is because they pull there water from the lake. i peronally have a problem drinking water that they dump waste into(the dump the process city sewer waste in there too)!! when we lived in the city they had two out breaks of cyroptosporidium(sp) yea not so fun to have. Also well water does not have chlorine in it that is city water(citys add chlorine to kill bacteria),well water doesnt have anything in it it is natural!! Maybe your thinking about florine?? Citys add that to there water to help with teeth, so yes we have to use a florine rinse because we do not get extra florine from our water. Lol its not like we just go outside with a bucket lol we have watersoftners and a filter just because our water isnt tested everyday doesnt mean its not good we get our water tested once a year which is what your suposed to do! Like i said before if well water(pretty much natural water) is so bad citys would man date that they get rid of them and you also wouldnt have people being so spastic about bottled water thats water from the mountains that they have run through a purefyer! IDK in my opinion if my doctor isnt worried that i dont boil the water im not and we have never gotten sick on our water so again im not worried about it for the situation im in..Now if i did have to lug my water into the house from a bucket d__n right i would boil it thats a different story! I dont have time to boil perfectly fine water right now i work fulltime, go to school fulltime and take care of my daughter

I'm so sorry to keep going back and forth, I'm just looking out for people, not just you. I'm glad you've never gotten sick from the water. This is the last post I'll make in reguards to this topic lol! City water goes through filtration and water plants and gets tested for impurities. Now if your well water gets tested about every 6 months (I know you don't throw a bucket down into the earth, I know what well water is) and is proven drinkable, then go ahead and drink it. Yes, it's all natural BUT people throw garbage and litter out into the wildlife and that garbage sinks right into the ground and goes right into the earth and water. Anything coming from the earth and that is natural will have impurities. You have never got sick from it but that doesn't mean that you could get sick in the future. And I give you so much credit for going to school and working full time so I'm sorry to keep going on and on about this, I just wanted everyone to take pre-cautions, especially when it comes to their kids.

My mother just told me that well water smells and such, but drinking water is worse because of all the chemicals they put into it. Just something to think about.

Brittany - February 22

which is why all water should be boiled.

lol i didnt know well water stinks i think bottled water stinks...but like plastic. Dont get me wrong i know where your coming from Brittany if our water didnt go through a softner and a filter i probably would boil it. I know not all well water goes through that and not many people test there well water they just a__sume that it is safe

I dont know, i'm i guess what you could call, a paranoid momma. Since my dd was born i had to boil EVERYTHING, and make sure everything was perfect , but for good reason. And now i've finally come to a happy medium ( now that shes bigger.) I used to live on well water, and theres no way that i would use that water without boiling, I wouldnt even use that to make juice. But quite possibly because we live in different countries? I'm not saying tap water is any better tho, because i wouldnt ever just have a gla__s of water from the tap either. I prefer to use bottled water for her bottles, altho it is a bit expensive but i just feel its alot easier, i guess you could say. Plus i only drink bottled water so i dont go out of my way to buy special water or anything like that. *AYAME i am curious as to what nursery water is, i've never heard of it?
