Weight Loss

I'm 18 weeks along and I had an appointment today. My doctor told me that I had lost some weight since my last appointment which was 3 1/2 weeks ago. I lost 7 pounds but I'm not eating any differently. If anything, I think I eat more because I'm always snacking between meals. I'm not all that into fitness so that's not the reason. I had an ultrasound and my baby seems to be doing just fine and growing like normal. Has anyone else lost weight during their pregnancy. I just don't want to harm my baby.

Yes every other appointment I have either gained or lost weight. I feel like I am eating a ton but then I find out I lost 5-6Lbs. If you are concerned ask your doc about it's effect on the baby. Plus I don't think it is anything to worry about otherwise your Doc would have told you.

I'm 25 weeks and I'm still at a net loss of 11 pounds. Granted, I know the cause behind my weight loss. (gallstones) But none the less, it's a loss of weight when I should be gaining. I really can't gain weight because I'm on a low fat diet to keep the gallbladder attacks away until I can have surgery. Everybody is different, we don't know your situation, for example if you are overwieght, underweight, average, wether you lost or gained weight in your first trimester, etc. I'm sure the doctor will let you know if you need to change anything. Just eat healthy, get the reccomended servings of each food group daily, and be healthy for your baby. There is usually a big weight gain between 20-28 weeks, so if you're eating well, you should gain at that time.

Momma87, I think you'll be ok. You're only 18 weeks so you still have plenty of time to gain weight. I'm 38 1/2 weeks and I've only gained 22 lbs. I never lost weight at the beginning like you, but I hear a lot of people do, so it's not uncommon. Just continue to eat good and your baby should be fine.

I lost 8 pounds in the first 3 months of my pregnancy, due to morning sickness. I only gained 17ish pounds, and I have a very healthy baby. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, I wouldnt worry about it.

I guess you can say I'm a bit on the over weight side, but no one believes me when I tell them how much I weigh because I'm tall and I don't look obese. From the time I was weighed when I found out I was pregnant to yesterday, no weight has been gained...only lost. I have a couple of friends who are about as pregnant as me and they both have only gained weight so I was a bit worried, but I figured my doctor would have said something to me yesterday.
