I have a 9 month old daughter and around the time my period was due I started feeling those familiar symptoms again. The day my period was due I took an HPT and it was negative. Now my period is a week late and I took another HPT and it was negative too! I'm not stressing about it because I want two kids, I just didn't think they would be this close, so it's not stress. Any other reasons for no period but negative tests? Thanks in advance.

what time of day did u take the test? you urine could of been deluted. take another test FIRST thing wen u wake up. i took a test at night time, it was negative, took one the nest morning as soon as i woke up, and it was clearly positive. good luck!! let us know what happens!

False negatives can and do happen. False positives are much more unlikely. It may be that you are late with your period because of some other non-pregnancy reason. Sometimes a cycle can just get screwed up. Courtney is also right with the time of day suggestion. It may be too early for the test to pick up any significant pregnancy hormone too.

Actually I was on the pill but obviously it's failed before. I talked to my ob/gyn and they got me approved for an IUD so I didn't start my next pack of pills this month. I had dysfunctional uterine bleeding a little over a month ago and took provera to stop it. I've heard this can cause your periods to stop but I can't figure out why I'm getting all the pregnancy symptoms. I'm tired, nauseous, uterine cramps, excess cervical mucus, and of course, no period. Anyone else had this happen and were you or weren't you pg? Thanks again.

ok....provera is known to screw up your cycle. i read an interesting post on here, i believe from "sa__senach" saying something about nutrition disfunctiion. i believe anemia(low iron) since ive been pregnant, ive been anemic, which has multiplied the fatique and nausea by 50%. i also get really bad headahces. b4 i was pregnant, i would become anemic while i was on my period, and those same things happened. the mucus could easily be a bacterial infection! where do u live? im from texas, and because of the humidity and my love of junk food...(sweets) i get yeast infections quite easily, due to those 2 factors!! i would still really suggest taking another test but using your first pee of the day. if it is still negative, go see your doctor and get a hemoglobin test to test your iron level. if your anemic, that would explain some symptoms, and if ya throw in the provera, sounds like problem solved!! let us know what happens...hope i helped!

I have The iud.Mine is the mirena.I am in my 20's general they do not approve them for teen but there are exception to the rule.If your doctor says it is ok then I wouldn't worry about that.I would ask your doctor about anther forum of hormonal birth control for the first six months.Even though it is a relible forum people can still get pregnant. The greatest chance is the first year. Most of them happen in the first three months. If he does not give it to you use condoms even in a commited relationship if you do not want pregnant.Your doctor will act as if nobody gets pregnant or rarly gets pregnant but it happens more then they tell you.Go to the "possible complication" forum. There are two running IUD pregnancy threads.Read them but don't let them scare you.For every one horror story there are 100 satified users.IUD are not for everyone ,just keep that in mind.

Hey first off I'm 21 so I had no problem getting approved for the IUD. I am also not anemic. I have a liver disorder that tends to cause my iron to be HIGH instead. I also believe this is why my birth control has failed in the past. I do not have a yeast infection because I saw the ob/gyn last month and all was fine. I live in Pennsylvania where the only humidity is snow right now and I eat healthy. I know I was not pg as of about 6 weeks ago b/c of the ob/gyn visit and the ultrasound they performed to check my ovaries and uterus but they did not do a pg test so who knows? I almost always use condoms except for the first few days before my period or right after but this month things we're so screwed up we forgot a few times. I also did use my first morning urine for the second test and held it till almost noon to make sure it had time to build up hormones. I'm thinking that if I am pg I ovulated very late due to the dysfunctional uterine bleeding and provera and this is why I'm not getting a positive yet. I also read in another post about a girl who couldn't get a positive on an HPT but did on a blood test so I guess if I get another negative and no period I'll call the ob/gyn again. Also I've read alot about the IUD's and know the risks but I'm willing to try anything to not get pregnant for a few years as I've gotten pregnant about once a year since my senior year of high school. My daughter is just the first one I carried to term. Oh and also I was wondering that since I know the hormone levels should double every 48 hours or so if you know how many days it should take to show up on a pg test from the day of ovulation? So since this is now extremely long let me thank you all for your help and any additional comments or suggestions and stop typing before I write a novel. LOL. Sara

It will say on the box how high the hormonals have to be.you could ask a pharmacist how far you would have to be to get a positive reading.

okay i looked this up and if i oveulated on dec. 14th my HCG levels should be between 111 - 514 mIU/ml. Wouldn't this show up on an HPT? I used Clear Blue Easy's Digital and also a EPT regular one. If I am pg does the HCG being so low mean I'm going to miscarry? Thanks.

I don't think you will get much of a answer here but try the "pregnancy complaction"forum or "general pregnancy" forum. They seem to know about that kind of thing.Good luck
