I think I may've just lost the mp. A little nervous. This will be my first child and she's due Aug 11. Called after hours service for doctor and she's due to call back. I know it can be anywhere from a couple of days to 3 weeks before giving birth... but I was hoping to carry full term. I just want her to be healthy. Oh I'm just praying so hard right now. ANY ADVICE???

meant to say now 34 weeks not NOT 34 weeks, sorry :-)

Well, I just went to pee (sorry) and when I stood up- I looked down and saw blood in the bowl and on the paper. I didn't feel anything. Dr just got out of OR-so hopefully I'll be hearing from her shortly. What is the Fetal fibrinectin test?

ashley - June 15

oh my gosh, you saw blood in it too? The fetal fibrinectin test they do to determine preterm labor. I guess if it comes back negative like mine, there is a 98% chance you wont go into labor in the next 2 weeks. If it comes up positive then you have a 30% chance of going into labor in the next two weeks.... okay back to the blood. describe it.... dont' worry about TMI. Was it mucousy? Because if it was solid blood (nothing else like discharge) It could be your placenta... I hope your doc calls back soon. Let me know what he/she says.

What I saw on the paper looked mucousy and when I wiped the 2nd time- it was very little clear mucous. I haven't had anymore blood. the blood in the bowl kind of looked like a blood cloud- it wasn't solid- it dispersed. I'm calling after hours service (again) since I still haven't heard back.

I'll let you know! Thank you for being there Ashley!! :)

ashley - June 15

your welcome.............are you having any pain or contractions?

mommie2be - June 16

no pain or contractions. Dr finally called back at 10:30p (been in OR)- she said since there's no more blood and no pain- don't worry about it. If I wake up and there's more blood and any pain go to my dr. She said sometimes the baby will press on blood vessels and break them and that can come out in the urine. It's funny- I am usually a strong, quiet, "it's-under-control" type of person and the very first potential sign of baby on the way... I'm freaking out. LOL Totally not how I thought I'd respond

how is the mucous plug today? any more problems?

mommie2be - June 16

Nothing more today. No pain. Baby is not moving too much... but it is extremely hot in Carolina today... so the baby's probably sleeping tight. I guess I'll find out more on Monday's appt., hopefully! :)

Wow.. That has to be kind of scary since you aren't due for a little while. My next appointment is next Thursday. I'll be 35 weeks 2 days along. They are doing the group B strep test and the doc said she could go ahead and check me to see if anything is happening. Im feeling really crampy today. Kind of like menstral type cramps. I wonder if I am just dehyrdrated. I haven't drank enough I don't think. Okay I live on a ranch and I really hate sheep. We have the mamas and the baby's and they dont' keep track of each other and all they do is scream and wine all day trying to find each other....it sounds like bleeeeeeeeh, Baaaaaaaaaa. lol. Im kind of surprised the doc didn't have you come in as when I thought I was loosing my plug at 32 weeks they had me come in and they checked me and did an internal and everything. keep a close eye on it and go in if you need too. Don't worry about what the doc said. Better safe than sorry.

mommie2be - June 17

Yes- I was scared--- I want to definitely make it to term. Wow- that's cool you live on a ranch! What an experience!! :) Definitely keep on top of your water. I try to drink between 80-100oz per day (min 60oz) and I haven't felt the BH yet. I was surprised the doc was kind of flippant about it. She's not my usual dr- but the on call. But I'm not too worried since there hasn't been anymore blood and no pain. But she's definitely not moving as much. If anything changes this weekend- I will be a thorn in their side and they will be seeing me. But hopefully all will check out good on Monday. I hope your feeling better. How's your cramping?

ashley - June 17

good morning.. My cramping seems good this morning.. none to speak of. Just made me a little nervous because I know what b/h contractions are and I have been getting them regularly since 14 weeks along. And this was different. Yes I was having the b/h's too but they say the start of labor can feel like menstral cramps and since my back was hurting to I was afraid of preterm labor or something. Perhaps I was just dehydrated and over did it yesterday. Living on a ranch has its ups and downs. Living near my husbands youngest brother and his parents definitely sucks because you are never alone. There are always sheep out, cows on the road, dogs and cats in your yard, etc. Ofcourse I have my fair share of animals (two ducks, a dog and a cat. But my cat is an indoor and if my husband would put a fence completely around the house our dog would stay in our yard. The cat is an indoor cat.... They have sheep, two goats, cows, 8 horses, 6 dogs, tons of barn cats amonst other wild animals around here.....ahhh its the freaking animal kingdom here. Well I just can't believe you lost your mucous plug already. I think I am loosing bits and peices of mine, but haven't had any blood or anything yet. we'll see.

mommie2be - June 17

Glad to hear your cramping was gone. You sound like you're getting close to the big day! I meant to ask if this was your first? I'm new to this whole thing. We miscarried last year, so I'm just so happy to make it to this point!! :) I'll let u know for sure if it was the mp. I'm starting to question myself. I look forward to monday's appt. I bet it's beautiful to have all that land though... but I can see where it would get frustrating with all the animals... and the nearby family! I can totally relate. My mother in law lives nearby and she'll come and spend the night at our house. It wouldn't be so bad but she go into our bedroom and clean-up... that ticks me off. On her last visit, I told her about the food diary I had to keep - which ended up proving how healthy I was eating to the docs- Well, she asked what am I doing, as I was writing down my list and I explained. She then proceeded to tell me that my baby's growth spurt must've been from all the bread I love to eat. Note- I don't eat that much bread and when I do, I try to stick with whole grains. It was just an unecessary comment.

ashley - June 17

oh I hear you about the mother-in-law comments... Besides at this point in time they recommend 6 servings per day!! I do eat whole grain too, but I love pasta and bread! This is my second, so I am not expecting to go to 40 weeks. I delivered my daughter a week early and the women in my family tend to go around 38/39 weeks plus we have small babies too. My sister weighed 7 lbs, my brother 6 lbs and I weighed 5 lbs but I came early by 4-6 weeks. My daughter was not quite 6 lbs. Hope you are doing well. Im going to go weed....
