39 Weeks And BLEEDING

Hey girls! I'm 39 weeks today. I was 2 cm and 60% effaced at last weeks appointment. Tonight, I have had bright red bleeding. It was after dh and I had s_x though. I believe I have already lost my mucous plug over the last two wks (clear and stringy).Sorry, TMI. I don't believe this is related to that. I have my next appt. at 9:45 in the morning. Should I call my midwife now, or wait and go to the appt.??

Well, I went ahead and called the midwife. She said that it was from having s_x. And, not to worry unless it got worse or soaked through a pad. And here I was scrambling to get ready. Ha!

My doctor told me that if I get bright red blood that I should go to the hospital immediately. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but a midwife is not a doctor. A doctor went to school for 10 years to be able to diagnois well. If you read "What to expect when you are expecting" they will tell you to go to the hospital when you see birght red blood too. That doesn't seem normal to me. I would be concerned. I would go to the hospital. This is why I would never hire a midwife and I would prefer a doctor. I wonder about their credibility.

Well, I did get out my "What to Expect When You're Expecting Book." It does say persistent bright red bleeding needs to be addressed right away. It also says that as a result of having s_x your cervix can be bruised and cause bleeding. I was really concerned at first (that's why I went ahead and called), but it has stopped now. I'm keeping an eye on it. Thanks for your opinion Jane. I've always heard good things about midwives....but, my ob has doctors for back up, so, I'm not worried.
