I am 41 weeks pregnant and there doesn't seem to be any sign of baby coming soon. I have an u/s and non-stress test tomorrow to make sure she's doing ok, and if she is, I'm scheduled to be induced on the 13th (42 weeks). Otherwise, they'll induce me sooner. I'm wondering what the chances are of her coming on her own... I'm beginning to feel like it just isn't going to happen. Wouldn't it have happened by now? Maybe there's a reason I'm not going into labor, and I just won't on my own. Have any of you gone into labor naturally after 41 weeks? I'm really starting to lose my mind here...

I don't know, but I sure feel like I am in the exact same boat as you. I am preggos w/my first and I am 2 days away from my due date with absolutely NO SIGNs of labor. I haven't even experienced Braxton Hicks! I have stayed the same dilation and effacement the last 4 weeks and my dr told me he will most likely have to induce me because she has not dropped yet. I go to an appt on Tuesday, my due date, and I know he's going to schedule to induce me on the 14th. I too would like to go into labor on my own, but at least I know I have a date I can look forward to. Good luck!

My baby hasn't dropped yet either... That's part of what's really making me think it isn't going to happen. Why hasn't she dropped yet?!? I've been having a TON of braxton hicks... especially in the last 3 days. They hurt and are so uncomfortable, but apparantly aren't really doing me any good. Ugh. I just really wanted to do this naturally... Anyway, good luck to you too!

I was 41 weeks pregnant and had to induce labor.
Unfortunately this did not work out well for me as we had to do emergency c-section. I was in labor for about 12 hrs with this strong pains but only 3 cm dilated! i had the spinal c section and worked out perfectly for me. There is nothing to worry about:)

Jess - I don't know if there is a reason or not for you not going into labor yet - but just rest a__sured that they say that first timers tend to go a little later. With my first I was 12 days late!! She was fine in there and there was no reason to induce me until 42 wks (as per my doc). I felt like my body had failed me or something. But eventually I did go into labor on my own, and 5 hours later she was out with 4 pushes! Just hang in there, your baby will be out any time now :o) But I sure know the feeling so hugs to you!

I went into a very unprogressing labor at 41 weeks, 6 days. For me there was a reason, it's just that I didn't find it out until I was pregnant with my 2nd child lol. I was also planning a natural delivery *sigh*... Anyway, with my oldest I was induced because I was contracting and my water had broken (in a trickle), but nothing was "picking up", my ctxns were very light and I was not dilated or effaced at all, yet with broken waters they were concerned about infection and wanted me to deliver within 24 hours of the time my water had broken. After 11 (ish) hours on Pitocin my water broke full force and there was meconium present. They decided at that point to do a c-section. They were taking their time prepping me, but then his heartrate dropped and wasn't coming up again and I was taken right away for the c-section. In my pregnancy with baby #2 I had a 20 week u/s (If I'd have had one with my son they would have caught this, but back then my OB didn't routinely do a 20 week u/s)... I was found to have scarring of the cervix from a D&C for a m/c and I can't dilate past 1/2 cm. So, my next two were scheduled c-sections. Anyway, unfortunately, I think that you just have to try it if the docs don't see anything visibly wrong and hope for the best. Sometimes there's something physically wrong that is preventing it, but sometimes the baby just isn't ready yet. Good luck, I hope you get that natural delivery that you want in the end :-) I know from experience that it really bites to be 1/2 way through the 10th month of a 9 month pregnancy!!
