I was so calm until for some reason today I am freaking out about it. This is my first and I am having a boy. My original DD was March 25th, but now it is Feb 25th because of GD and high blood pressure. We are doing fine so I don't know why I am freaking out but I AM.....I have been on bed rest for 2 weeks now so that is not helping.

Wow they are inducing you at 36wks?? Has baby been given steriods for lung development? I can understand your anxiousness about being induced...I feel the same way. I am 3 days away from my EDD and will be induced on the 27th if he hasn't come before then. I think what scares me the most is the fact that it could very well end up with a C-Section. There are some good induction stories out there though. Try to stay positive for yourself and your baby. Good luck!!!

I got the steriods last week 2 shots within 24 hours. The doc says she needs to take him early because of the high blood pressure. We had talked about having to do a C-sec because he had not turned yet, but he finally did so she says I can try to have him natural, but to be prepared to have a C-Sec anyway if my blood pressure goes up to high during delivery. My sister is giving me my baby shower and we have had it planned for Fed 24th. Now that is the day before I go to the hospital instead of a month before. I am trying to just lay here and breath slow and deep. I have read some of the stories on this site and they all seemed to be great it did help some I guess.

I have waited for so long for this pregnancy to be over (hasn't exactly been that great) but now that it's almost here I am not so sure I am ready for this.

I had a doc appointment today and She told me that I may not have to worry about being induced in 8 days because I am dilated to a 1 and 75% effaced and have stared having mild contractions. He could come by himself any time now. Looks like they were way off with my original due date of March 25

That's great news if you don't need to be induced!! What surprises me is that your doc would a__sume just because you're dilated 1cm and effaced to 75% that you will have your baby within the week. I know some women who have walked around 100% effaced and 3-4cm dilated and still had to wait weeks for their baby to come..sometimes even going overdue. Also I don't know how you could be a whole month off your dates especially if you had a u/s done at 18-20wks. The u/s tech would more than likely have picked up on that...but I am sure it has happened. Good luck!

That's kind of what I was thinking. My first sono was at 6 weeks and it was from that sono that they gave me the March 25 th due date. It was my understanding that the earlier the sono the more acurate the due date will be. She had decided to induce me Feb 25th because of preeclamsia and GD. I think she is a__suming that I could go at any time because of how far down he is. She said his head is right there and pushing down and also because of the contractions that I have apparently been having for a couple of weeks now. This is my first pregnancy so I didn't know that is what I was feeling.

I also wonder now that if I am so close to having him natural was it nessasary to have the steroid shots????

DDT - February 16

I don't think you should be a__suming he will come within a week. At 36weeks it isn't uncommon to start effacing yet (especially first-time moms)...and really 1cm dilation isn't much. I mean he may come but I don't think you should put "all your eggs in one basket" I have been having mild contractions for weeks now to (they come and go hence false labour) and I am still waiting for my little one at 39w5d. It's your body's way of preparing for true labour. Try not to dwell on things too much. Just take each day as it comes because you'll drive yourself crazy thinking and worrying. Regardless I don't think the steriod shots will have done any harm.

I guess it's just because all of this is happening all so fast. I was not expecting him until late March and now regardless I am going to the hospital Feb 25th at 7:30. I would also fell better if I had the stuff I need for when he come home like oh say a bed a car seat that kind of stuff. My husband and I have been putting it off. Why I have no idea probably because we are lazy. So when he gets home from work today we are going to go pick up the car seat and stroller and the bed will be here Sunday. I think after I get those things I will fill a lot better and not so freaked out. Nothing like procrastination.

Tink dont worry about the induction, yes there are bad ones, but there are good ones too. I was induced with my daughter because my water broke early on and i was dialting fast enough. my daughter was born at 36 1/2 weeks weighing in at 6lbs 5 ozes and 21 inches long. Yes contractions were more painful, but other then that my labor was relatively normal.
