Has anyone been able to go through an induction and did not get an epidural? Did you get any other type of pain medicine, what was your progress upon getting to the hospital, how long was your labor? I go on Monday for one and was wondering.

I suppose it depends how you are induced. With my last baby, they broke my water because I was at 4 cm and nothing was happening. Well, it went SO fast after that and was SO painful that I began to ask for an epidural but it was already too late. Going from 4-10 cm and pushing him out only took 2.5 hours. They did give me gas once I was in transition and it worked wonders for me. That was the only pain relief I had.

I have not yet given birth, but my best friend Julie gave birth to a healthy little girl 18 months ago, she was induced with pitocin because of high blood presure and low amniotic fluid - she was in labor for 11 hours and had no pain relief whats so ever - to this day she swears it wasnt that bad and she would do it all over again. Her advice to me is to keep things as unstressful as possible and to learn forms of pain control that don't include medication - for example self relaxation techniques and breathing techniques.I wish you the best with your birth, congatulations on being blessed with your baby!
