Im 34wks and from about 27 weeks have been having really strange feelings. It is like a blood rush to my head and my breathing becomes hard. They happen more at night and when I am sitting down any suggestions?

Sarah, I'm not sure what you are experiencing but I don't think it's Braxton Hicks. BHs are practise contractions that cause your stomach to tighten but are painless until the last days of pregnancy. I think you should ask your doctor, have you ever had a panic attack? How often do you get these episodes and for how long? How's your blood pressure?

Sorry Sarah, I wish I could have been more helpful...sometimes I can't breathe because of the growing uterus etc...and I try to lie down on my left side and relax. That helps, also since I started taking iron for my anemia I feel like my breathlessness has decreased...lots of luck on Monday!

Allot of girls explain their braxton hicks to be just wehn their belly hardens. I been getting them since I was about 20 weeks. When I get them my belly does get hard but it also gets a little harder to take a breath and sometimes my heart will palpitate too. I know when I'm getting them because I feel them coming on in my chest first. I think this is normal. You might be reallt small in the rib cage as me and also anxiety can make you feel them in your chest too. When this happens try to get up and move around or drink water. I only feel them bad in my chest at night if I am laying down.

Sarah- this is exactly what happens to me. I notice that my heart starts to pound, then my chest tightens and sometimes I feel a little light-headed like I need to sit or lay down. Then I will feel my belly tighten up for about 30 seconds and the whole thing just goes away. I thought it was panic attacks, too, but my doctor said that it is BH contractions. It is kinda wierd because it my belly seems to tighten much more on the right side than the left- at first I thought it was just the baby moving over to that side, but apparently not. Anyway, just ask your doctor about it and I'm sure everything is fine! Good luck!
