Any of you ladies out there know of or have gone into labor in the beginning stages and not really realize it?? I'm getting pretty frustrated as I'm due next Tuesday, the 13th, and feeeling no signs really. I get mild, random contraction like pains for say a half an hour here and there but the next day, I'll feel nothing whatsoever. Everybody cannot believe I'm due in 4 days as I'm walking around malls and feeling perfectly, normally fine besides the normal stuff like having to pee every 3.5 seconds and feeling heavy in my belly. I just thought I'd be feeling false contractions more frequently now and starting to understand why some of you say you feel you'll be pregnant forever. I certainly know that's not the case, but wanting to see more signs!! Has labor come on all at once without warning without you really realizing it for a while?? Thanks so much for your responses...

I don't know the answer to your ? but I am right there with you. I am due the monday the 12th and I am DYING of anticipation. I have had BH contractions since october 30h. Everyday. I am going to call them B*ll sH*t contractions, if you know what I mean ; ) Today, well this afternoon, I have had a constant menstrual like cramp. I mean constant. So, that is new. Maybe that will turn into something.... this waiting game is killing me!

Yes, that's the feeling I have too jessieb. I've heard that the period like cramps that I've definately been getting too, is your cervix effacing- which means your body is getting ready for what it's supposed to do. Maybe we're just lucky not feeling all that terrible or uncomfortable right before labor. That's a good thing, but builds more anticipation and wonder as to when the heck it's gonna happen. The 12th, huh? One day before me...our friends have bets that I'll go on Sunday the 11th. It's a total waiting game for sure. Keep me posted as to how you're feeling since we're so close!

I was worried I wouldn't know when I was going into labor, and let me tell you, there is NO mistaking it. One day you are fine and cruising the mall and the next you are in so much pain. The pain is distinct. Trust me, you will know the difference between that and BH. Good luck!!!!

I have a friend who was due the same day I am. She sent me this two mornings ago... have not heard from her since. Must have been labor : ) I guess we will know! "Girl, if this isn't labor, then I don't know what is! It's 4:04 am. I cannot sleep, got up, took a bath, made the bed, did the dishes.... All day I have had these 'stronger' contractions in my lower abdomen, below my belly b___ton. But very sporadic until about 8 or 9 this evening they started coming together, still mild, but different...I wouldn't say painful, but not just the plain old tightening feeling. Between 10 and midnight I timed them and they were roughly 30 seconds long and roughly 10 minutes apart. Now, I am up timing again, gonna do it for one hour and then call el doctoro :) I'm getting them stronger, especially when I am up moving. Every 5 minutes, lasting about 45 to 55 seconds each. AHHHHHHHHHHHH, this is it, it has to be!! I probably will be in the hospital in the next few hours, OMG!!"

Let me just say the amount of BHs you have is not indicative of when labor will start. I'd been having TONS of them until my 38th week and they stopped cold. I didn't have anymore contractions until labor when I was 39w 3d. So, if you're not having any, that doesn't mean you aren't close.

Yeah, I'm 38w 3 d with our fifth. Last one I mistook bad BH for labour. I get Bh all the time and mor stronger and frequently throughout pg. Here's my stories if it helps you any: first, 5.5 hrs long, actually could time contractions for about 2 hours, got to hospital, 8cm, dialted, born 3 hours later. 2nd son just over 2 hours long. Just woke up to one almighty contraction, 3 of them 10 minutes apart then they never stopped. Born at hospital an hour later. DD, 45 minutes. Got one small pain around 7pm, woke up at just after midnight with immediate contractions, never stopped, born in car outside hospital 45 later. DS, 25 minutes. BAD bh for a few hours, like a st_tch at the front, but not like previous contractions so I didn't think anything of them. THey'd been getting progressively stronger for a few weeks anyway, but from my previous experiences, I'd had them before so dismissed them. Bang, two huge contractions, then one almighty one, baby born with DH delivering 25 minutes later. This baby, now the SECOND my BH havea ting of pain to them, I'm calling my midwife. But yeah, I kind ofmiss the first and second stage of labour and kind of am right in third stage. Thank God I don't get the days of contrations beforehand and stop and start like some women - i'd kill myself. But the BH are bad enough at the end, that I take them as REAL contractions for me. Very hard to explain ,isn't it? But that's my two cents :-)

yes with my first my waters broke without contractions starting until hours later so i knew i was then, but with my second daughter i woke up in the night with tummy ache it didnt even cross my mind i was in labour even though i was already 10 days late i just thought it was something i had eaten that didnt agree with me lol and i went back to sleep for two hours then i woke up again pain was worse then still i didnt think i was in labour until i noticed the pain was coming and going regulary then i finally clicked on lol i delivered two hours after that

when I went to the hospital to be induced with DS I was having contractions 1-2 minutes apart but I could not feel them....weird huh? I was closed with no softening also at that time. But somehow I progressed and had my little boy about 19 hours after being admitted. Good Luck!

hi claire! how are you? I am barely hanging onto my sanity waiting for this baby to come! hahahh : ) I pumped yesterday, nothing. Do you know if you are having a boy or girl? I never found out and I am dying to know now. I think I am going to go into hiding after tomorrow. I live in a small town and last week I was already getting the 'you haven't had the baby yet?' barrage of comments. I might stay out of sight till I have it! I don't want to hear it from everyone.

Hello Ladies! I am with you :) I was due November 10th....and still no sign of labor. Its getting frustrating because I do run around like crazy cleaning the house, washing the floors and doing everything I can....I too walk the malls and people give me "this look" and say "boy you look like you're due anytime now" I get a min of 6 phone calls asking if I havent had the baby yet... Man, do I want to pick up the phone and say: I havent had the baby yet" instead of saying "hello" :) LOL My first one was born 29 weeks, so this time everything is so different, and it seems like she is never coming. I get false labor every night, those contractions a real and really painful....like when you are really in labor. A night before they were ranging from 7-2 min....I didint sleep all night, until 5 in the morning when the subsided.....UGGGHHH its frustrating......I have my apt. on Monday and hopefuly I am somewhat dialated, because I week ago I wasnt dialated at all, just effaced. I will let you know how it goes.

Ok ladies I was due Nov 9th and I still don't have any sign of labour coming on except the odd BH which I can hardly feel. I went to the doctor on the 5th and she swept my membranes for the second time. She said I am 2 cm dilated which I a__sumed I would mean I would have the baby anytime now but nothing. I am beyond anxious and don't know how much longer I can wait. I feel like I am going to be prego forever! Anyone else dilated without any contractions yet? Anyone thinking of induction?

hi jessieb i know what you mean i keep getting people asking if ive had the baby aswell -the neighbours have been knocking my door just to ask er hello my bump is still here lol i get text messages off all my well meaning friends asking to i hate it. im having another girl that makes five but shes my last one i dont think i would ever get a boy lol saying that ive had some really strange dreams where my baby is a boy- that would be a nice surprise but i doubt it would happen. i didnt think of pumping to get things moving i may try that later- all my babies have been late but they added 10 days to my due date so i was hoping to deliver on time but it'll soon be tomorrow and i just know im still gonna be pregnant lol oh well

claire83 - November 11

oh also i was in the hospital last wednesday and they couldnt even see my cervix hmm defo know im gonna be so late lol

jessieb - November 11

Yes KDF, I have been 1cm since 36 weeks. I was SHOCKED then when he said I was 1 cm. I didn't expect that at all. BUT, I have been siting around for almost a month expecting it 'at any moment'. At my 38w appt, I was now 20% effaced and baby at zero station! Low huh?!? 39w appt (last week) no change from 38 w appt. After my 38w appt we have been REALLY living the 'at any moment' life. I am so tired of it. I just want it to be the time right now. Pumping didn't work for me, any one thinking about castor oil? ahah!! wow, claire 5 girls! what a handful!
