I am 35 weeks pregnant and just moved to Valdosta, GA and don't know a soul. My husband is sooooo supportive and is my best friend, but it is hard being pregnant and not having a female friend; So, if anyone is pregnant and from my area, please let me know. I would love to hear from ya.

Stacy - I don't live in Georgia, but I did move 3 time zones away from friends during this pregnancy and know how lonely it can feel. Right now, you need lots of support, especially from women friends. Husbands are great, but they don't really get everything. We've started making friends here, and they are even throwing me a shower! but mostly, I've used this forum and my mom and sister (by phone and email) to get support for the pregnancy stuff. The ladies here are wonderful and very helpful!

Jenny C, Thanks for the reply. My husband and I just moved here from Alaska. My family isn't too far away, but we are not very close/ Living in Alaska for 4 years kind of put a wedge in the relationship. Never really got to see them much. I haven't met anyone here and without working I have no idea how to meet anyone. So When are you due?

JennyC - February 23

i'm due March 22, but ready NOW!!! This is my first, and its a girl. Do you already have any other kids?

I just realized - Alaska to Geogia must have been a HUGE change! I moved from San Diego, to Minnesota, so I went the other direction, weather-wise!

Hi Stacy!!! Are you at Moody AFB ... I'm up the road from you in Warner Robins and we moved here from England. Gotta love the military. Q

OMG! I'm not pregnant any longer, I had my son 2 1/2 months ago, but I live in Valdosta, Ga. What a small world! I never thought I'd see someone else from here on a forum. If you will be returning to work after you have your baby, get on the daycare lists now! I was supposed to return to work a month ago, but can't because every daycare in town is booked. Well there are a few with openings, but I checked them out and I wouldn't leave my dog there much less my child. My husband is at Moody also.

Wow!! Lots of responses!!! Yes, my husband is at Moody and this is my second child. My daughter is 13 and I am having a BOY this time around. I am sooooo excited and sooooo ready. GRANTSMOM- what squad is your husband? Mine is LRS( Logistics Readiness) Thank you all for responding. It is nice to have women to talk to!!!

Grantsmom - February 23

My husband's in the maintenance squad. I've always wanted to go to Alaska. Did you like it?

Stacy - February 23

Grantsmom- Alaska was OK. If you get the opportunity to go, choose Anchorage, NOT Fairbanks. If you travel 7 hours, because that is the closest town, you can find beautiful scenery, other than that, it is ugly and COLD. There is NO shopping, NOWHERE to eat and NOTHING to do. LOL But, it is quiet, simple, and laid back. I enjoyed the peace and the people are great. I am very happy to be in a warmer climate, that is for sure. 50 below 0 is just too cold to describe. Is your husband MXS or LRS maint.?

I moved to AL in August (a day later, I was preggo... hadn't seen my boyfriend in a month & we went a little crazy, lol) from CA. I miss all my friends out there, & it's taken a long long time for me to make friends here... mostly because I was so moody in the first trimester, I think. Also, I have friends in NY, NJ, PA, & my parents are in NC... so my ENTIRE support system is very far away indeed. It's really tough. My parents are coming here for my birthday (30th!) next month, & also when baby's born. And my best friend says she's coming here in June. But it's still really hard. We're here because this is where my boyfriend's from, & it's relatively cheap compared to a lot of places.

Hi Stacy, I'm at Moody also. I work in the Med Group. I'm 29 weeks with my first child (girl). How do you like Valdosta so far? I never been to Alaska but I'm sure it's a big change.

Stacy - February 24

Rachel- Hi. Valdosta is really great compared to where I just came from. I love being able to shop and go out to eat and the weather is MUCH better. It is just really hard to not have any friends, especially being pregnant. So, what do you do for the Med Group?
