Big Baby

I just had an ultrasound at 32 weeks and 1 day and was told my little boys weighs 4 lbs 9 oz. Is that big for my time? Everyone in my family has big babies and I am wondering if mine will be. Also, I had the u/s to check my low lying placenta to see if it moved up and it only moved a little. What are my chances that it could still go up and I could have a va___al birth? Thanks!

Low placenta means that it MIGHT be to low and may cover viginia that would mean c-section. As for big babies My first child was ten pounds and I delieved he v____aly with pain killers of course! I have 4 weeks left and i have ask my doctor if I could be induced a week early because of the weight of my first child.

I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks and my baby was 4lbs. 8oz. Pretty close huh? But big babies also run in my family so I don't know if it's normal or if we are both going to have big babies. I asked my Dr. at that visit if it was too early to estimate a birth weight and he said yes, the baby could still do alot of growing, but that he would be at least 7 1/2 pounds.

Hi Jessie, I am not sure if that is big or not. At my 30 week ultrasound my baby weighed 4 and a half pounds...I have been told by my dr. that she will be a big baby.

I had an ultra sound at 31 1/2 weeks just last week. The baby weighed 4lbs 7 oz. The Dr, showed a growth chart and said my baby was in the 60th percentile...he said she was in the average growth range.

Tiffany, are they inducing you? The biggest baby I've had was my youngest 9lb 2. He was 15 days late. I had no pain relief, natural birth and it was simple. The easiest one Ive had. 2 and a half hour labour with only 9 mins of pushing. Hope this makes you feel better 'going to faint'

Thank you, Lesley. My son was 9lbs too. I can handle that again, I think and hope. I'm just afraid of anything larger.
