Does anyone know a good car seat brand? I was looking at the Evenflo's but have read some bad reports from people who have bought them. Also, I was wondering about the Graco ones.

we purchased the peg perego brand. It' s a bit pricey but we thought it was the best buy for our family.

Funny you should post this question. We are in the process of buying ours right now and are looking at consumer reports. The Britax Companion has the best rating, though it is pricey at $200. The Safety 1st is second on the list at $80. They also give good ratings for Peg Perego and Graco Snugride 8465. The report said that the expensive ones were just as reliable as the less expensive. Depends if you want to pay for the brand name or not. I wouldn't go with the Evenflo... the one in the magazine only rated "fair." Hope this helps.

Just an added note.... I was only referring to the infant/rear-facing car seats. The Evenflo Titan 5 convertible car seat rates very high and is only $70.

Hey. Anytime I think of baby products Graco comes to mind! I haven't heard anything negative about them and they have alot of cute stuff at decent prices!

I was looking at Graco reports from those who've purchased them and they said that they were good. One thing that is different from all the others, they went on to say, was that the GRACO seats DO NOT fit in shopping carts like the others do. They said that Graco thinks it's unsafe to place your child in a shopping cart like that so they purposely make them so they don't fit. Is that true? Do Graco seats not fit? Not that that's a big part of the decision....just curios.

We have the rear-facing infant car seat that came with our Graco Metrolite travel system. I looked at the Peg Perego stuff (it is really nice,) but we figured that if the Graco stuff busted, we could get another one and still have money left over for the price of the Peg. We have not gotten anything else at this time, but I have heard good things about the Britax carseats for when they are bigger, so we'll probably look into that when the time comes. Oh- and about the Graco carseat not fitting in the shopping cart, I have heard that but from some of my friends, who all have the Quattro travel system. I am not sure if it is true for all of their carseats or not. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

We got a Graco Metrolite Travel System, which I like because it's relatively lighter, and stands upright when not in use. It cost $199 at Babies R Us.
