Cleft Palate

I wasn't concerned about this at all until the last few days, and now I'm starting to worry a bit. My 19 week ultrasound results indicated that there was limited visibility of the baby's nose and mouth. Another ultrasound was not ordered to look into this further. My doctor originally said that it was more than likely the way he baby was lying at the time, but I'm starting to get concerned that it might be cleft palate. Has anyone had a similar experience with ultrasound results and what was the outcome? Thanks in advance.

OMG I've been thinking about this out of nowhere the past few days... Do they normally check for that at the 20w ultrasound? If so, I'll feel better, as they said everything was great

From any information that I have gathered, if there was cause for concern the OB would send for another ultrasound. I guess as a new mom, I'm paranoid that something will be missed. And, honestly, a cleft palate is minor compared to what problems could arise, but I think everyone wants to be as prepared as they can. I'm just curious if anyone has ever had ultrasound results that indicated things were okay, and then they weren't. Or vice versa..

Freinds of ours had a baby with a cleft palate and they found out on thier 20 week u/s. I think that your probably worrying for nothing. If there was any remote cause for concern they would have ordered more tests.
