Hello, ladies I just wanted to know if this was a sign of early labor or somewhere near if I am expereinceing lower back pain every 5-12 minutes and the pain starts from the lower back and move up to my abdomen. Is this a sign of labor? and I am guessing if so the pain should get more intense.... Right... Please give me advice if you can help me out I would appreciate it. This is my first preganancy and I am about 38 weeks now.

Real labor contractions do normally start in your lower back and then come around to the lower abdomen. How exciting! If it's the real thing they'll just get closer and closer. Also, walking will make them more intense. If you rest and they still don't go away, (like a braxton hicks will) it's probably the real thing. Maybe call your dr. just for rea__surance, but sounds like you're close! Good Luck!

I agree with CyndiG, it sounds like possible labor to me. Take a shower or change what you're doing. If they just stay with you and become more regular, you're on your way.

how do you know where they origionate? I get bh all the time and i get menstral pains and I also some times have lower back ache, but I could not at all tell you if they started in the back, it all seems to come on at the same time.

by the way keera, how close are your contractions?

Ashley, if they're the real thing you'll know. It's the weirdest pain that literally just radiates around you and then after a short while stops, then it comes again. But the "lower back ache" is not the same feeling as a real contraction. You'll know. It feels different. And braxton hicks are easy in comparison. They're just the tightening of your uterus, and it's only in the front, most of the time. Hope that answers your question.
