Does This Really Work

Has anyone ever sat on an exercise ball (or a midwife would call it a birthing ball) and had it help with the baby dropping? I sit at work all day and have my exercise ball here and I have heard sitting on it helps open up the pelvic bones and allows the baby to drop. So being that I am 38 1/2 weeks pg, I have decided to sit and rock on it all day, plus it is quite comfortable, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this or heard of it working?

Definitely! It opens up the pelvic pa__sageway and allows the baby to come down. I did it with my first pregnancy and I was 3-4 cm dilated before I went into labor. I think it works, along with daily walks. Keep it up!

Miranda, how long did you use the ball for? was it a daily activity?

Yes, I keep it in the living room and sit on it whenever I'm watching tv or folding clothes or something like that. That's what I did last time too. I also used it during labor - it was the most comfortable position for contractions. Don't be discouraged if you aren't dilated, though. Some women do and some don't. It is still going to help open everything up and get things moving. Good luck!
