Fifths Disease Exposure

Hi there, I am 32 weeks pregnant and just found out that a friend of mines baby has Fifths disease. I know that exposure in the 1st trimester is very bad for pregnant women, but cant find anything about third trimester. Does anyone have any experience or information with this?

I just looked up about fifth disease (because I had never heard of it before). It said the child or adult is only contagious before the rash develops, when the person has cold/flu like symptoms only. At what point were you exposed?

I was exposed about a week before the rash appeared on the child. The following day or so after I saw him was when he started with the flu like symptoms.

I was exposed in my first trimester but it was after the rash developed so I was told that I was okay. Best to check with your doctor though.

i was exposed to fifth's disease in my first trimester so i went to the doctor's and got two tests. one test to see if i had the disease and another to see if i had the antibodies for fifth's disease. i did have the antibodies so my unborn child couldn't get it. my understanding is that your unborn baby is in no danger of having complications because you are so far along in your pregnancy. i would call your doctor and tell him/her you were exposed to the disease and you'll probably be told not to worry about it cause you are so far along. you can ask to be tested to see if you already had fifth's disease and therefore you have nothing to worry about. most of adults have been exposed to the disease and have antibodies and can't pa__s it to their unborn baby.
