They sound like Braxton Hicks contractions. I've been getting them every 3-20 minutes day and night for 5 and a half weeks now (I'm 5 days past due date). Sometimes mine even last close to 5 minutes. They are normal and I feel cramps with them about half the time.

Chacha - I'm 35 weeks, and I've had the same thing for a couple months. It's different from the BH contractions - it never goes away - mine will be hard from the afternoon until i go to bed. It finally happened at my last dr appt and she said as long as I was still having fetal movement she wasn't worried. I guess because the uterus is a smooth muscle sometimes it just freaks out when it's streched so much. Mine never hurts - it's just bloody uncomfortable...

Hi I am currently 27 weeks and for the last 3 weeks I have been having the tightness too, it is braxton hicks, so doctor says, it makes it hard sometimes when I go to get up, I can not stretch out coz it is so tight, sometimes I get pains with it but most of the time my tummy just goes rock hard, bit uncomfortable but it will all be over soon enough...lol

chacha227 - i'm 38.5 weeks now and i've had that same thing... I even went to the hospital once because it was rock hard for about 4 hours... but they just put me on stress test and everything was fine.. i have days where it's so hard that it feels like it's going to burst... also, when it's at its hardest, i also feel very numb around the belly b___ton.. i've noticed that's where little baby's b___t is, and that's the area that's most numb..
